Opening the lid will reveal the 15.6-inch, 1080p display, keyboard, huge trackpad, and fingerprint scanner. The hinge has the word “SWIFT” printed on it in capital letters.
At the left side are the charging port, HDMI, Type-C, 2x USB 3.0 and the 3.5mm audio jack. The USB port can be used to charge other gadgets even if the Swift 3 is power down.
While on the right side are SD card reader, USB 2.0, battery LED notification light and Kensington lock.
This laptop does not have a thin profile but compared to other brands with the same specs you might find the Swift 3 has a thinner profile.
Display – 15.6″ IPS Full HD Display
This laptop has huge 15.6 Full HD display, great for work related stuff, as multimedia and maybe casual gaming PC. Its also nice to see an IPS display on this laptop, viewing angles are wide but since it got a glossy screen, reflections tend to obstruct the view when you are outdoors.
The full HD on 15.6 display is great, but the text seems to get smaller so just make sure to adjust the size around 125% for a better experience, brightness can be adjusted via special keys or simply got display settings.
Watching Netflix on this laptop is awesome, the display is bright and detailed. It offers more vivid hues and more than 78% SRGB so the colors are alive and pleasant to the eyes.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The swift keyboard feels nice and soft to touch, there seems to be no tactile feedback. Also, the power button is part of the keyboard layout, so at first you might not see it at first glance. The spacious keyboard layout is great and won’t strain your hands when using for a long period of time.
It has a nice feel when pressing the keys, and the number keypad is easy to access. However, the arrow keys seems a bit hard to use because of its position. There’s also a fingerprint scanner below at the rightmost corner for easy access and unlocking the Windows.
The trackpad is positioned in leftmost below the keyboard. Its large, responsive and support muti-gestures such as tap it with three-finger to launch Cortana.
Performance – Intel Powered
This version of Swift 3 is powered by 1.8 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7-8550U processor with 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD and runs on 64-bit Windows 10 Home edition.
When powered up, this laptop boots up in seconds and you can start using it right away. It does come with a lot of bloatware apps that you won’t need so better check the apps list and start removing those you are not going to use.
The first thing we did was to make sure it got the latest updates from Microsoft so we fire-up the Windows update and check the available updates once its done we installed Google Chrome browser and since it already has Netflix installed we just need to get the latest updated version.
This laptop has more than enough processing power for your needs, and thanks to its SSD disk drive, copying files is so much faster, we tried to copy some 5GB files on it and it was done in less than 15 seconds. It also has 1TB in drive D for your storage needs.
In terms of battery power, the Swift 3 got us more than 6 hours of use before we need to find a wall socket to re-charge the battery. Now that’s a good battery life considering that it got big display and brightness is set to the highest most of the time.
