ASUS we’re able to put in the right stuff and create a great design and still make the ZenPad 7 more affordable. So we got a hands-on with the new ASUS Zenpad 7 (Z370CG)..

Unboxing

The ASUS ZenPad 7.0 have the same box design as to the ZenPad C 7.0 and ZenPad S 8.0, At the front is the image of the ZenPad, while the at the side of the box is where the model number, product name, Intel logo and the color of the device.

The Back cover of the ZenPad 7 have embossed leather patterning, it’s also interchangeable with functional back covers like ASUS Power Case, and ASUS Audio Cover.

Micro USB port and the microphone is at the bottom part of the ZenPad 7, there are no capacitive buttons for home, back, and frequently used apps only soft button.

The Power button and the volume controls can be found at the right side, and the 3.5mm jack is the top of ZenPad 7.

Once the back cover is removed, you will find the 2 SIM card slot. There’s no micro SD card slot, but it supports OTG for your additional storage needs.

Design and Usability

In terms of design, The ZenPad 7 have metallic frame coating enhanced with Non-conductive vacuum metallization (NCVM) technology. It also has rounded edges that provide a better grip. It’s meant to be use on portrait more, but you can also use it in landscape mode with 16:10 display ratio.

It’s running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with ZenUI, it also comes with pre-loaded with ASUS apps such as Do it Later, Auto Start Manager, Power Saver, SupoerNote, WebStorage, Audio Wizard, Splendid, ShareLink, and PhotoCollage.

First Impressions: Great 7-inch Tablet with Premium Design

The ASUS Zenpad 7 is more than a just an ordinary Tablet, it got Phone functions and 3G connectivity, the build and design remind us of the Nexus 7. The bezel width to the bare minimum, giving ASUS ZenPad 7.0 a remarkable 72% screen-to-body ratio. The rounded edges provide a better grip while the back cover with embossed leather patterning design gives it a premium look and feel. The display ratio of 16:10 which is actually quite better than an iPad mini.

The ZenUI works like a charm just like in ZenFone 2, the Intel Atom x3-C3230 Quad-core processor can handle launching apps quite good, using the phone function works well the speaker are loud enough and it’s really easier to write SMS on a bigger screen.
