Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Selfie is one of the company’s first smartphone to have Samsung sensors on its cameras. We’re able to secure one and here’s our unboxing and first hands-on experience with this new selfie-centric smartphone from Cherry Mobile.

Here’s our unboxing and First impression of the new Flare S6 Selfie.

Unboxing
The Flare S6 has some similar design from its predecessor but with a more refined and premium look. The packaging also improve, inside you will see the Flare S6 Selfie, charger, USB Type-C cable, in-ear headphones, SIM tray ejector tool and manuals. There is no protective case included but the device comes with a screen protector that is already installed.

The Flare S6 Selfie sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved glass at 423ppi. On top of the display is the 16-megapixel Samsung S5K3P3 camera, speaker, and LED flash.

There are capacitive buttons located at the bottom of the display, the home button also has the fingerprint scanner.

Going to the back, at the top is the 16-megapixel Samsung S5K3P3 main shooter with LED flash, the camera lens is a bit protruding. Antenna bands are visible on top and bottom making it part of the design giving the Flare S6 Selfie a more premium look.

The left side is where the hybrid SIM tray that supports two micro SIM card of one SIM + microSD card. While on the right side are the power button and volume control.

There is a 3.5mm audio port at the top while at the bottom of the device are the USC Type C between microphone and loudspeaker.

Fist impressions. The Flare S6 Selfie looks like a midrange device on hand it feels premium with its metal body and curved edges that add to the overall look and feel. With its MediaTek MT6750T octa-core CPU and 3GB RAM it has more than enough processing power for multitasks needs, playing casual games will not be a problem and since it has Full HD display and more pixels you get more details in graphics. Just don’t play those high graphics extensive games.

Its running on Android 7.0 Nougat with Cherry OS, the company’s custom overlay for Android, they are now moving away to stock Android. The new Cherry OS is easy to use and responsive it has app drawer where the rest of the apps is listed in alphabetical order. It comes with pre-installed apps like UC Browser, Uber, Chumslive PRO, and MovieClub+, together with Google apps.

The Cherry OS features 360 Security an antivirus app and a Privacy System where can password-protected storage for their private messages and more. It can also be customized using custom Themes, Wallpapers, and even Ringtones.

For photography, The Flare S6 selfie is equipped with 16-megapixel Samsung S5K3P3 sensor on both back and front camera so we have high expectations on the picture quality it can produce.

The Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Selfie is a nice looking device, the metal body design looks really sleek and it also feels good on hand. It has a good CPU power and a good amount of RAM and storage capacity for its price point. The Cherry OS is a big improvement in terms of software, the cameras on this device look promising and users for sure will have more fun using this to takes selfies and groufies.

The Flare S6 Selfie is priced at Php7,999 and it is now available in all Cherry Mobile stores and kiosk nationwide.

  4. Ohhh seems like a great phone! To be honest, the one I am using now date 2013…one of the first Iphone. For now it is still working fine for me but once it stop working I will consider Cherry mobile!
