The main star of the P9 is the dual rear camera that is co-engineered with Leica. No doubt that this device can really capture great images and best when use in monochrome photography. We proved this during street photography where test the P9 to shoot monochrome in street photography session.

The camera app on the is device is amazing, and its really easy to use, sure there’s the point and shoot function, but if you really want to get the full functions of the dual camera, manual setting is the way to go.
Huawei Camera App
Manual (Pro) mode can be activated by swiping the arrow just above the shutter button when activated it will show the manual settings controls to adjust focal point, ISO, shutter speed, exposure value, auto/manual focus, and white balance. Simply tap each one and move the slider to adjust the value.

- Two 12MP sensors work together to give you a better image
- Best in monochrome can shoot with high detail
- No optical image stabilization
The P9 camera is really superior compared to other Android smartphones in the market and even on iPhone 6s. This is why Huawei P9 is so successful and for sure with the Huawei P10 already announced for sure, it will be another big.
Out of the box, the P9 is running on Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 its a custom ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The EMUI looks dynamic with the default square icons, it lacks app drawer so to organized apps it needs to be placed into folders, the interface still looks good and responsive.
The P9 is due for Android 7 Nougat with EMUI v5.1 it promises brings quite a few improvements and new features such as Ultra Memory and Ultra Response. So better stay tuned for this new and improved version of EMUI.
- Emotion UI 4 look refreshing
- a new look of Android 6 Marshmallow
- Does not have App drawer
- Useful preloaded apps
Performace and Batter Life
P9 can handle almost every task for everyday use as a main smartphone. Packed with 2.5GHz Kirin 955 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB storage. But this device tends to heat up when playing games even on simple Plants and Zombies (we’re old school). But using it as a daily driver for browsing the internet, using social media apps, making calls, and SMS this device can perform well.
The P9 comes with 3,000mAh non-removable battery and its not enough for whole day use, so you still need that old trusty powerbank good thing it has Type-C for the fast-charging. On a full charge, you can get around 6 to 8 hours on a normal use like browsing the internet, social media updates using WiFi connection, occasional call, and SMS but if you are constantly connected to mobile data for sure you will get less battery life.
- Comes with 3GB of RAM
- Scored a great 6400 in our benchmarking test
- Tends to heat up when playing games
- battery life does not last a day
The Huawei P9 is built for photography with a compact premium look and design. With the dual rear camera and Pro more on the camera app, users have proven that it can take amazing pictures with this device. The lowdown is maybe the battery life, and the price but overall this is really one of the best Android smartphones but that is about to change once the Huawei P10 hit the market.
Huawei P9 is available at Huawei Experience stores and partner retailer store nationwide. Priced at P23,990 its also available in Globe and Smart postpaid plans.
