Vivo

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are Samsung’s latest flagship Android smartphone. It’s one of the best-looking smartphones in its category. It’s completely redesigned device,  it now features Infinity Display with an end-to-end screen up to the curved sides.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 features 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED (2960 x 1440) with Infinity display. We got a chance to play around with this flagship device and here’s our hands-on experience.

The Galaxy S8 looks really sleek and the Infinity Display really is something new. It feels small on hand and when compared to a 5.5-inch smartphone this phone has a body of a 5-inch phone. The S8 has a tall narrow shape that’s why it can easily fit on most hand.

The 5.8-inch display stretches from edge to edge with almost no bezel at all. It’s really an eye-candy device. It’s a combination of metal and glass fused into one really good looking phone. The black edition looks really stunning but it’s also a fingerprint magnet and it tends to slip on hands when using it so better to have a case for protection.

There are no buttons at the front, while the on-screen button will appear whenever you need to use it. At the top of the display, there is a notification LED light and selfie camera with on-screen flash.

Going the back of Galaxy S8, at the center are the main camera and LED flash and besides the camera lens is the fingerprint scanner, which is a bit odd location and most of the times I keep on pressing the camera lens instead of the fingerprint sensor and in the process, camera lens get smudges unintentionally.

The front and back of the Galaxy S8 are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and it should be scratch proof but, our review unit got easily scratch. Also, there are reported that users who accidentally dropped the Galaxy S8 ended up with cracked on the corners. It’s a delicate device so better equipped it with a good case.

The display on the Galaxy S8 looks crisp and full of details, with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The default screen resolution is Full HD+ and can be changed to HD+ or Quad HD+ (WQHD+) in Settings. Now this for sure will consume a lot of battery power. But downscaling the resolution can make some apps with odd looks, buy hey since this is really an expensive device so you probably want it to look its best.

Under the hood, it’s powered by Samsung Exynos 8895 64 bit Octa-core (2.35GHz Quad + 1.7GHz Quad) 10nm processor with Mali G71MP20 GPU for graphics department, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

It terms of daily use, the Galaxy S8 performs well no hint of slowing down, playing games is no problem even multitask is also smooth. This device comes with too many security features, passcode, fingerprint scanner, Secure Folder, Face Recognition and Iris scanning now that is too much security, the placement of fingerprint scanner is a bit annoying, the IRIS scanner works well if there’s enough light so I guess standard PIN will do.
