Design
The V7+ is one of the first to feature an 18:9 screen, and in terms of design, it comes in a small frame for a device with a 5.99” display. It's easy to hold in your hands, weighing only 160 grams. It has a unibody design with a metal frame and hard plastic material at the back. The back cover is a bit of a fingerprint magnet. Good thing it comes with a free case. It has a nice finish with nice curved corners and a premium appeal.

The display has a 5.99-inch IPS LCD FullView display (1440 x 720) pixels, there are no capacitive buttons, only on-screen ones. At the top are the 24-megapixel front-facing camera, mic, and LED notification light. The 3.55mm audio headphone jack, micro-USB port, and speakers are all at the bottom.

Now going to the right are the volume and power buttons, while on the left is the SIM tray that can accommodate two (2) nano-SIM cards and a microSD card that can support up to 256GB. That's a lot of storage options.

Now, the back of the V7+ is really simple, it has a 16-megapixel camera on the top side with an LED flashlight, and in the center is the fingerprint scanner and the company logo.

Display
One of the many features of the V7+ is the screen. As we said, it features an almost 6-inch display with HD+ resolution at an 84.4% screen-to-body ratio and a pixel density count of 269 ppi. As a result, it looks almost bezel-less and feels like you're holding a 5.5-inch smartphone with a larger display.

Vivo V7+

Sure, the V7+ only has 720 x 1440 pixel density, but not to worry, the screen is sharp and has good color quality. Playing games is definitely great on this device. We tried some new cool games like Gladiator Heroes, Zombie Frontier 3, Snipers vs. Thieves, and Guns of Boom, which worked well and looked good on the 18:9 screen. Watching videos on YouTube is also great; just stick to HD format and you're good.

It's All About the Camera
If you love taking selfies and groufies, the V7+ is the right smartphone for you. This device comes with a 24-megapixel f/2.0 front camera with Moonlight Glowlight.

Sure, it does not have dual front cameras, but this device comes with its own exclusive Face Beauty algorithm that can make clear photos and provide natural facial enhancement. It also has Portrait Mode, which allows you to take selfies with a beautifully blurred background.

Vivo V7+

The selfies we shot using the V7+ are among the best we’ve seen so far. Skin tone and blemishes are enhanced, making one selfie really beautiful, and for sure, people who take a lot of selfies will love this device.

The main camera at the back sports a 16-megapixel sensor that supports PDAF, it does take decent pictures in places with enough light, colors are also well presented, it can also be used in places with low light, for video recording, it's capable up to 1080p with good quality but no stabilization, so just make sure you have steady hands when shooting in video mode.

Performance
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC with eight Cortex A53 cores, an Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage, the V7+ performs well and handles multitasking and games smoothly. We’re able to switch from one app to another without any issues.

Vivo V7+

In terms of benchmarks, the V7+ managed to get a score of 56,134 points in AnTuTu and 32fps in GFXbench. Out of the box, it's running on Android 7.1.2 with Funtouch OS 3.2. There were two major updates during our test, including the activation of the Face ID security features.

The Color OS is inspired by iOS by Apple, with app icons and UI elements that look similar to the latest Apple OS. The control center can be activated by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, and there is no app drawer, so all of your apps can be accessed by swiping left or right.

Based on my experience, Color OS is responsive to touch, and there are a lot of customizations and features available. One of them is the Smart split, in which you can run two separate apps at the same time, like watching YouTube while updating your status on Facebook. Another one is App Clone, where you can have two accounts on the same social media apps. Currently, it supports WhatsApp, Line, BBM, WeChat, Zalo, and Viber.

In terms of security, the V7+ supports fingerprint, face ID, and password. For the fingerprint, it can unlock this device really fast, and it's a good thing that the sensor is now at the back, so it's easier to access. The face ID is interesting, and enrolling a face is easy and simple, you just need to follow the instructions and make sure you are in a place with good lighting; otherwise, it will not work. Using it also requires a good light to identify your face. So I guess we will stick to fingerprints and passwords for a while.

Battery Life
Powering the V7+ is a 3255 mAh non-removable battery that is good for a day of regular use. It does not support fast charging, but the included charger can charge the V7+ from 10% to about 60% of the battery in about an hour, so that's still good enough.

Using it as our daily device, we managed to get around 9 hours of battery life in normal use, but when used as a gaming and multimedia device, the battery life dramatically decreased. Overall, we’re happy with the battery's performance.

Pros:
All-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio
A 24MP selfie camera takes amazing selfies
Good performance chipset
More than enough storage (64GB with a dedicated microSD card slot)
Nice built
Good battery life
Responsive Color OS
Nice audio output

Cons:
Only HD resolution display
No fast charging support
micro USB instead of a Type-C port
Pricing is a bit high

Verdict
We love the Vivo V7+, this midrange smartphone is more than a selfie-centric device. The full-screen display with an 18:9 aspect ratio looks great on this device, and it's almost the perfect size. It's great for watching videos and playing games, it has a premium look; it has a slim and sleek profile; and it's easy to hold. The 24-megapixel selfie camera on the V7+ is really one of the best for taking selfies, and the back camera is also great for taking pictures. The triple SIM slot is more than welcome since now you can use both SIM card slots and still be able to add a microSD card for extra storage.
