This year we are starting to see a lot of smartphone makers releasing 5.7-inch devices with 18:9 display aspect ratio. In the midrange category Vivo, OPPO, ASUS, LG, Samsung, and Huawei are just some company that already released their own products.
Vivo was one of the first to released a 5.7-inch midrange device last year with their Vivo V7, while ASUS released Zenfone Max Plus just last January 2018. Both devices are priced under Php 15K mark.

In terms of design, both devices have an identical design, placement of the rear camera, fingerprint scanner, power button, volume control, and SIM slot are both located in the same place. Even the micro USB port are both located at the bottom, the difference is the 3.5mm audio jack of V7 is also at the bottom while the Zenfone Max is located at the top.
Vivo V7 has 5.7-inch HD display at 320ppi, while the Zenfone Max has a better display of 5.7-inch Full HD+ IPS Display at 424ppi. In terms of processing power, V7 got the advantage since its powered by 1.8GHz Octa-core Cortex-A53 Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Processor compared to 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750T Octa-core processor of Zenfone Max.
In terms of camera, Zenfone Max got the upper hand for the main camera since it got 16MP f/2.0 PDAF + 8MP f/2.4 120° wide-angle dual rear cameras, while V7 only has 16MP OV16880 f2.0 rear camera, in terms of performance, V7 has better picture quality this is based on experience. For selfie, V7 has the advantage with their 24MP f/2.0 front camera and some cool filters.
Battery. This is where Zenfone Max has an advantage with its 4130 mAh, compared to V7’s only 3000mAh battery. In terms of pricing, the V7 was originally priced at Php14,990 now its down to Php12,990 while the Zenfone Max is priced at only Php11,995.
