Huawei Y9S

Huawei's latest midrange smartphone the Huawei Y9S is now available in the Philippines. Its successor to the Huawei Y9 Prime that was launched last year is a feature pack and comes at an affordable price.
 
The Huawei Y9S features a 48-megapixel triple camera at the back, and a pop-up selfie camera, and is priced at only Php13,990. Here is our unboxing and first impressions of this pocket-friendly device.

Unboxing
The Huawei Y9S comes in standard packaging, with the branding at the front of the box and quick specs information at the bottom.

Inside the box, it comes with standard contents; the Huawei Y9S smartphone, charger (5V 2A) USB Type-C cable, FREE soft protective case, SIM ejector pin, 3.5mm earphones, and paper documentation.
Design
There's a 6.59-inch Full HD FullView display at the front, with no notch at the top of the screen it has 19.5:9 aspect ratio, with a 91% screen-to-body ratio.



it has a slim bezel at the top and sides its noticeable at the bottom. It also looks like it has a pre-installed screen protector for that extra layer of protection against scratches.



Going to the back, there's a triple camera that is vertically aligned along with the LED flash at the upper leftmost and the company logo just below.



The volume rocker and a power button that also doubles as the fingerprint scanner at the right side.



At the top are the pop-up selfie camera, SIM tray, and microphone hole.



While at the bottom is the 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker.
The Huawei Y9S has a nice slim body, with polish glass 3D arc design and it has similar look to Huawei P30, its available in two colors, the Midnight Black and Breathing Crystal.



Cameras
For photography, the Huawei Y9S sports a triple camera at the back with a 48-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For taking selfies, it has a 16-megapixel pop-up camera.

Hardware / Software
Under the hood, the Huawei Y9S is powered by Kirin 710F chipset and is equipped with 6GB+128GB with an expandable 512GB storage, and packs a large 4,000 mAh battery.



Out of the box it runs on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 on top. It's always a good idea to check for updates before using the device.



It also comes with Google Mobile Services, which means you can install apps/games directly from Google Play Store, and use Google services such as Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Drive, Photos and more.
First Impressions
The Huawei Y9S is a versatile device that features a fullview display without a notch, a 48-megapixel triple camera, a pop-up selfie camera, and a good processing power. A notable feature is the fingerprint scanner that is integrated into the power button which is the best implementation for this function.
