Seagate Barracuda 2.5-inch SATA 2TB Disk Drive Review

The Seagate Barracuda 2.5-inch SATA 2TB 5400RPM internal hard drive comes in a small form factor, at 7.2mm thickness. It has A Fast data transfer rate of up to 140 MB/s and uses a legacy low-current system. It's a Serial ATA interface, so it's a common type of internal interface that all laptop uses.

Installation is pretty much straightforward, you just need to locate where the drive is placed, this requires you to open the back cover of the laptop, just make sure it’s unplugged and the battery is removed (if it’s removable).

Once installed on Windows 10, you just need to Computer Management and Disk Management you need to mount the new drive and assign a drive letter to access it and then format it to NTFS file format.

The Clone Disk is a very useful app for making a copy of your old disk data and transferring it to the new disk, it's easy to use but it takes some time depending on the capacity of your drive and the amount of data it needs to copy.

In terms of performance file transfer is snappy with up to 140 MB/s, copying 1GB of files takes only less than 15 seconds not that it is blazing fast. In the random read test using 4 KiB blocks and a queue depth of 32, the BarraCuda was 32% faster than the Toshiba and 61% faster than the Samsung disk drivers. Overall performance, the Seagate barracuda ST2000LM015 performs best compared to other disk drives within the same model and price range.
