Synology DSM 7.0 and C2 Cloud Expansion Launched

Synology DSM 7.0

Synology announced the release of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 7.0 and the Synology C2 platform with four new cloud services. Focusing on enhancing security, system management capabilities, and improving data collaboration.

The DSM 7.0 represents a significant advancement for Synology's NAS and SAN product lines. Synology is expanding its hybrid and cloud-only product offerings, including a new password manager, directory as a service, cloud backup, and secure file sharing solutions, based on the success of C2 Storage. Synology is significantly engaged in extending the availability of its cloud platform, having begun work on establishing a new data center site to serve the Asia Pacific area.

Synology's data management solutions, backed by the DSM operating system, have been installed in over eight million locations globally. DSM, the world's biggest NAS OS, combines storage interoperability, backup and data protection features, and powerful synchronization and collaboration solutions to suit increasingly dispersed workplaces and data sources. Synology-created add-ons, such as Synology Drive, the Active Backup suite, and others, have over six million monthly downloads.

DSM 7.0, the platform's next major release, includes brand new hybrid-cloud services such as Active Insight, a large-scale device monitoring and diagnostics solution, Hybrid Share, which combines C2 storage flexibility and synchronization capabilities with on-premises solutions, and C2 Identity, a hybrid cloud directory as a service to simplify federated identity management. DSM 7.0 provides security enhancements in the form of Secure SignIn, in addition to platform upgrades like support for up to 1 PB volume for super-large workloads. This brand-new authentication solution makes two-factor authentication simple and easy to use.

C2 Password, C2 Transfer, and C2 Backup are stand-alone solutions that answer current demands to safeguard passwords, exchange sensitive data, and backup any endpoints and popular SaaS cloud services.

Already in the works is a new data center in Taiwan, which lies in the middle of all key markets in the Asia Pacific region. The expansion enables the entire C2 portfolio to be closer to customers, reducing latency and improving the end-user experience in a manner similar to how Synology's on-premises NAS and SAN solutions are doing for edge deployments.

New C2 solutions and DSM 7.0 will be available soon.
