Seagate Backup Plus Hub 4TB Review - Best Personal Backup Solution
We chose the Seagate Backup Plus Hub 4TB since it is the most affordable model available, and we want to see how well it performs in everyday use and backup of essential files. Now is time to share our hands-on review on this new Seagate backup device.

The Seagate Backup Plus Hub is available in capacities ranging from 4TB through 6TB, 8TB, 10TB, 12TB, and 14TB. It comes in a large box, the Seagate logo is prominently displayed on the front of the box, with the capacity of 4TB inscribed in the upper right corner.
Inside the box are the Seagate Backup Plus Hub device, power adapter with extra plug tip, USB cable, and some paper materials like the Rescue Data Recovery, Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan, and the instructions manual.
Design
The Backup Plus Hub comes in an all-black color scheme with plastic built, its larger than a typical external drive but it's still easy to carry inside the backpack. It blends in seamlessly in our workstation desk, sitting beside our work laptop and among other things.
It has tiny rubber feet stand to keep it firm when placed on the desk, the side panels are glossy and there's a honeycomb pattern at the top, back, and bottom area.
Upfront its equipped with two integrated USB ports that can be used to connect other devices such as smartphones, tablets and backup its contents, and charge the battery at the same time.
At the back, there is a power port and a USB port; unfortunately, there is no Type-C port or LAN port, which would be a much better interface for file transfers.
The Backup Plus Hub is a fairly nice-looking backup device, it also looks durable but it's not waterproof so it's a good idea to keep it away on coffee mug. The cables are simple to manage because they are all towards the back and can be hidden.
Setup and Performance
Setup is easy and straightforward just plug the Backup Plus Hub power and the USB on any available port on your laptop/PC is you can start using it since it's already formatted to NTFS and it's compatible with Windows and macOS platforms.
The Backup Plus Hub internal drive is a 3.5-inch Seagate drive with a rotational speed of 5,400 RPM, rather than 7,200 RPM, but still, it offers a decent transfer speed, with a maximum data transfer rate of 160 MB/s.
To test the read/write speeds we connected Backup Plus Hub to Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop powered by Intel i7 CPU and used PCMark benchmark.
We also did a real-time test and transfer a 3GB file from the laptop to the Backup Plus Hub, the transfer rate is a steady 164 MB/s and it took about 2 minutes to complete the file transfer, not a bad speed for standard file transfer.

The Seagate Backup Plus Hub is one of the best personal backup solutions for your important files. It has a nice design with a fast file transfer rate, it also features a simple and easy to use backup software to automate the backup process. With its USB port in the front, it be can be used to charge other gadgets such as tablets and smartphones. If you are looking for a simple way to backup your files from your work PC the Seagate Backup Plus Hub is the right one for you.
