The realme 8 Pro was first seen in India, it features a 108-megapixel ultra quad-camera system with a super slim and lightweight design. realme Philippines was kind enough to send us a test unit, so for now, here’s my unboxing and first impression.

HERE’S OUR UNBOXING VIDEO OF REALME 8 PRO
Unboxing
By now everyone knows the signature box color realme, the striking yellow color. At the front of the box is just the – 8 Pro with the realme branding while at the back are the standard tech specs.
For the contents, expect the usual package that includes the realme 8 Pro device, jelly case, SIM pin, paper materials, type-C cable, and the huge 50W Super Dart Charge adapter.
Dare to Leap Design
The realme 8 Pro comes in three colors Infinite Black, Illuminating Yellow, and Infinite Blue, which is the color of my review unit. The Illuminating Yellow looks interesting it glows around the camera and the message “DARE TO LEAP” with its special fluorescent material that absorbs light and glows in the dark.
At the back, the first thing I notice is the large “DARE TO LEAP” embossed marking, making it a bold statement on what this device can do, the next things that caught my attention are the large camera sensors that are encased with a very thick bump, good thing it comes with a free jelly case, otherwise if its use as is, the camera lens might suffer scratches when this phone is placed on the table in its back.
Speaking of the camera, it sports a 108-megapixel, f/1.9, 26mm Samsung ISOCELL HM2 main sensor, with 8-megapixel, f/2.3, 119˚, 16mm ultra wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel, f/2.4 macro lens and a 2-megapixel,f/2.4 B&W lens. Its equipped In-sensor Zoom technology uses 3X Ultra Zoom to take photos, Super Nightscape Mode, Tilt-shift Time-lapse Video, and Starry Time-lapse Video.
It has a combination of glossy with a matte surface that is a little rough to the touch which is nice since it does not easily slip on the hands and it’s not a magnet to smudges and dirt. It’s a slim device at only 8.1mm and it’s also lightweight only 176g making it easy to use and does not strain the hands for hours of use.
The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right side, so that makes the left side clean with only the SIM slot tray that features three slot trays, with two for the nano-SIM that support 4G connection and one microSD card slot for extra storage.
At the bottom we got the usual Type-C port, audio jack, microphone, and speaker grille, there is another microphone at the top of the phone.
Upfront is the 6.4-inch (16.3cm) Super AMOLED screen with a punch hole at the upper left side where the 16-megapixel, f/2.5 wide-angle selfie camera is housed, it also features an in-display fingerprint scanner for fast and convenient unlocking.
Under the hood, the realme 8 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G mobile platform paired with Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, it’s the same chipset and configuration that realme 7 Pro also used. It also packs a 4400mAh battery with 50W SuperDart Charge. With these specs, the realme 8 Pro can handle most of the games available in Google Play, multitasking will not be an issue since it got the processing power and RAM to handle multiple apps.

First Impressions
In terms of design, the realme 8 Pro looks slim and lightweight, the back design looks bold with the “DARE TO LEAP” slogan and those camera lenses look really huge. With its 108-megapixel main sensor, it looks promising with its capabilities. The Super AMOLED display looks amazing and with its 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, it’s a great screen for consuming videos and playing games. It runs on the latest realme IU 2.0 which offers new features and capabilities. If you are looking to upgrade your old smartphone to a new midrange phone, the realme 8 Pro is a good candidate to consider.
