Premium Design
The X70 feels and looks premium on hand, crafted in Cosmic Black and Aurora Dawn colors by Fluorite AG, and offers a sleek and slim 3D design. It features a smooth surface that does not easily get smudges. When the back is hit by light, the aurora hues sparkle, which makes it look amazing.

Vivo X70

The X70 is a lightweight and slim device, weighing only 181 grams and measuring only 7.55mm in thickness, making it easy and comfortable to use even for a long period of time.

Vivo X70

Because of the incredibly large camera sensors and the vivo's Gimbal Stabilization 3.0, the cameras on the back of the X70 have a very thick bulge, and it's more prone to scratches when put on a flat surface such as a table. Good thing is that it ships with a free cover, which helps protect the camera sensors. The volume rocker and power/lock buttons are located on the right side, making them easily accessible and providing a satisfying click feel when pressed.

Vivo X70

The Type-C connector, primary microphone, loudspeaker, and SIM tray slot are all located at the bottom of the device. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm audio jack, however, we are still happy since the supplied earphones come with a free type-C adaptor which means we can still listen to our favorite playlist via wired earphones.

Vivo X70

The SIM slot supports two nano-SIM cards and does not include a microSD card slot, hence it is recommended to get the 256GB model. Additionally, it is a 5G device, which means you can enjoy a fast mobile internet connection with any telco you choose, but we prefer Smart since its offers the fastest 5G connection in the country. At the top there is an earpiece and IR blaster, there is also the inscribed "Professional Photography" in bold characters.

Vivo X70

Upfront there is a large 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 2376 x 1080 resolution, and it just looks amazing. The selfie camera is placed in a punch hole at the center top of the screen.

The X70 is without a doubt one of the best-looking smartphones available today, thanks to its slim profile, excellent build, and design, which you can show off every time you use it.

AMOLED Display
The X70 is equipped with a 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with thin bezels, a screen-to-body ratio of 94.7%, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has HDR10+ and Hi-Res certification, which enhances the overall appearance of the display.

Vivo X70

The screen, which has a 2376 x 1080 pixels resolution and it features a small punch hole selfie camera, which is located in the top center. The screen comes with a pre-installed screen protector that provides additional scratch protection. The display panel is Samsung made, it also boasts excellent viewing angles, deep blacks, and vibrant colors.

Vivo X70

In addition to having a Dark mode and the ability to modify the screen colors between standard (default), professional, and bright settings, it has a slider for adjusting color temperature. We enjoy the default setting, but the bright setting is considerably more pleasing to our eye due to our preference for bright colors.

For the screen refresh rate, you can choose between Smart switch, which automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on the usage scenario and power consumption, 60Hz refresh rate, or 120Hz refresh rate, which is the highest refresh rate but consumes more power, resulting in shorter battery life. While it's advisable to use the Smart switch for everyday use, we chose the 120Hz refresh rate for this review to better appreciate the AMOLED display's visual quality. It's astonishing how much better videos and games look and feel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

5G Performance
The vivo X70 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G chipset clocked up to 3.0GHz speed with 12GB RAM (supports extended RAM up to 4GB) and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It also packs a 4400mAh battery with 44W fast charging and runs on Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 11 out of the box.

Vivo X70

This smartphone is lightning fast and lag-free. Apps and games open and load quickly. Furthermore, animations are butter smooth because of the 120Hz refresh rate. In general, the user experience is fantastic.

For those who love benchmark, the X70 performs well Below are the benchmark scores:

AnTuTu – 674,558
CPU – 173,477
GPU – 241,253
MEM – 127,578
UX – 137,247
Geekbench – 889 (Single-core); 2748 (Multi-core)
3D Mark – 4567 (Wild Life); 1274 (Wild Life Extreme)

In terms of gaming, the Dimensity 1200 SoC is more than capable of handling graphics-intensive games such as Genshin Impact, game experience is great on graphics setting set to medium. It can smoothly run on a higher 60 frame rate without affecting gameplay but it does make the device warmer at the back while playing for an extended period, It is nothing serious but it's better to use the default settings for longer playtime.

Vivo X70

We also played Call of Duty: Mobile since we wanted to feel the 120Hz frame rate. Previously, this game ran at 60Hz, which is acceptable, but 120Hz is unquestionably much better.

ZEISS Cameras

The X70's primary feature is its camera system, which comprises a 40-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.89 aperture and a proprietary Sony IMX766V sensor. A 12-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 2x optical zoom and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 116-degree field of view. Upfront there is a 32-megapixel, f/2.5 selfie camera.

Vivo X70

The X70 camera lenses have been certified to use ZEISS T coating, which minimizes stray light and ghosting effects for true colors in all lighting conditions. This is beneficial when shooting at night or in dimly lit areas since it helps keep the photos steady and minimizes ghosting and stray light effects.

Vivo X70

The X70 camera is packed with features such as vivo's Gimbal Stabilization 3.0 and VIS 5-axis Ultra Stable movies, which provide crisper and stabilized photos even at night. It's also a great feature for shooting videos since it allows you to maintain stability without sacrificing video quality.

Below are just some of the shots taken using the X70 camera

Vivo X70 sample1

Additionally, it includes Real-time Extreme Night Vision, which provides additional brightness adjustments and real-time previews. While the Super Night Video is capable of recording action in extremely dark environments.

Portrait mode utilizes a 12-megapixel sensor with a 50mm equivalent focal length for enhanced portraits and bokeh effects. The ZEISS lens is capable of producing a variety of distinct bokeh effects, including Distagon Style (dreamy bokeh), Planar Style (classic bokeh), Sonnar Style (creamy bokeh), and Biotar Style (swirly bokeh).

Photos taken in natural light indoors and outdoors are clear and detailed, with a wide dynamic range and a lot of details. Every time the camera is used, it automatically adjusts itself to the current lighting conditions and surrounding environment. While photographs shot at night are likewise excellent, with superb details and sharpness.

To sum it up, the vivo x70 with ZEISS cameras excels in all situations, and the Gimbal Stabilization 3.0 is a nice addition that is generally only possible with a hand-held stabilization device attached to the smartphone, but the X70 allows users to record movies even if their hands are not very steady.

Battery Performance
The X70 battery is only 4000mAh, which isn't the largest, but it's adequate for most tasks. On a full charge, it can run on moderate settings for an entire day without needing a recharge. Games with faster refresh rates, on the other hand, use up more battery power, resulting in shorter game sessions.

When it comes to charging, the battery can be fully charged in under an hour thanks to the included 44W fast charger. The battery was fully charged in about 55 minutes during our testing. However, it is preferable not to empty the battery below 10% before plugging it in; you can charge it when it reaches 30% for optimal battery management.
