Design and Built
Looking at the Y33s it looks premium, it follows the design language of the new vivo X70. It's a slim device measuring only 8.0mm in thickness, at it only weighs about only 182g. Our review unit is the Mirror Black colorway, it's also available in Midday Dream colorway.

The Y33s is an elegant shade of black with a glossy finish; in fact, the rear panel is so shiny that it may be used as a mirror. The crystal coating adds a layer of smoothness making it fingerprint-prone, which is unpleasant, but there is no need to worry since it comes with a free case to remedy this minor issue.

Its flat back and frame give it a squarish appearance. The triple camera is encapsulated alongside the LED light, with only a slight bulge. Additionally, it has the vivo branding on the bottom part, which contributes to its aesthetic.

The volume control and power button, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner, are located on the right side. The power button is slightly recessed making it easy to access even in the dark, and it works fast in unlocking the phone every time it's pressed.

The SIM card tray is situated at the top, and it features a triple tray that accepts two nano-SIM cards and one microSD card. The bottom section includes the standard USB-C port, loudspeaker, and headphone jack.

The Y33s feels like a large phone, it's easy to hold and has a nice form factor for easy grip. The buttons are well-placed and easy to reach, while the side fingerprint sensor implementation is convenient.

Display and Speaker
The Y33s features the same 6.58-inch Full HD+ IPS display as the Y31 (2021) but adds a waterdrop notch to fit the 16-megapixel front camera that also functions to face wake to unlock. Nothing special about the screen, but the colors are vibrant, and the brightness level is good.

vivo Y33s

The screen boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 90.6%, which is ideal for watching Netflix or YouTube videos, as well as playing games. Also, the screen protects the eyes with a built-in blue light filter. The viewing angle is decent but we had a hard time using it outdoor in direct sunlight.

The speakers are not the finest in terms of music quality, it is recommended that you utilize the accompanying corded earphones or use your own wireless earbuds like the SONY WF-1000XM4 TWS.

Cameras
The Y33s is equipped with triple camera systems at the back with a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 2-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor rear camera. That is an upgrade from the 48-megapixel shooter used on the Y31 (2021).

vivo Y33s

The camera can shoot good images, and the photos we take during the daytime have excellent detail and sharpness. Also, the bokeh effect is superior to that of the Y31 (2021), and the macro performs nicely.

Low-Light shot

The Y33s features some cool camera functions such as the Super Night Mode with noise reduction technology and combines multiple frames to have a better picture quality. The Eye Autofocus, with the camera's AF, can lock on the subject and keep a focus on the subject and produce good portrait images.

It supports 1080p at 30 frames per second video recording, comes equipped with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) for reliable video recording, and has Smart Editing for polishing raw footage.

vivo Y33s

Overall, the camera can shoot beautiful photographs in areas with adequate lighting using the main camera sensor, and the night shot is decent enough to share on social media with minimal modification needed.

Performance
Under the hood, the Y33s is powered by an Helio G80 processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. The chipset features a MediaTek HyperEngine with an AI resource management engine that ensures better performance and better battery management. In short, this phone is ideal for everyday mobile gamers.

Below is how the vivo Y33s perform on Benchmark Apps:

AnTuTu – 228,324
Geekbench – 119 (Single-core); 1,012 (Multi-core); 989 (OpenCL)
3D Mark – 689 (Wild Life - Vulcan); 174 (Wild Life Extreme -- Vulcan)
PC Mark – 8478(Work 3.0)

It performs admirably when used as the primary device for daily tasks such as zoom meetings, web browsing, social media updates, and personal time spent watching videos and playing games.

vivo Y33s

It ships with Funtouch OS 11.1 out of the box, and we really love the IU and how responsive and it's quick in switching between apps. What we dislike is that it comes pre-installed with bloatware.

Additionally, it supports extended RAM 2.0, which means it can use idle ROM space as extended RAM up to 4GB, bringing the total RAM to 12GB, this makes a significant performance improvement.

Since it's a proven capable processor, games such as the popular Genshin Impact play well with the visuals set to medium. Additionally, it is capable of handling Pokémon Unite with no noticeable performance issues. In general, we had a good time with this phone and spent a lot of time playing games.

In terms of security, the Y33s offer fingerprint, passwords, and facial recognition. The screen lock has swipe, pattern, PIN, and password options. Fingerprint and facial recognition can be utilized in conjunction with the lock features. It also has "Find my Device," which is a handy function that you should use, especially if you've misplaced your phone.

Battery Life
The Y33s features a 5000mAh battery with an 18w charging capability. The battery lasted an astounding 20 hours throughout our video loop test. While in our real-world testing, we were able to get a full day of use with 21% battery remaining before going to bed, which is still enough to use the next day for a couple of hours.

vivo Y33s

Charging the battery takes more than 2 hours to fully charge the battery from 15% to 100% when using the included 18W charger; it is not the fastest charger, but it is adequate for daily use in most situations. It does not support wireless charging, it would be great if it would. Since even the entry-level Cherry AQUA S10 Pro, which retails for P8k, supports wireless charging.

Pros
Nice premium looking design
Nice camera performance
Good performance
Long battery life
FM Radio

Cons
No ultra-wide angle mode
Plastic Body
Single loudspeaker
A bit pricey

Final Thoughts
The vivo Y33s is a very capable smartphone that can handle any task you put into it. The design looks nice with its premium look minus the smudge magnet back cover. It packs a capable chipset for a smooth and lag-free performance, the extended RAM feature is to ensure it performs well. The camera is capable of capturing good images and it's also nice to use for online meetings. Overall, it's a versatile smartphone that you can use everyday and also play games in free time.

The vivo Y33s is priced at ₱12,999 and is available in vivo’s online store in Lazada and Shopee, and at all authorized vivo resellers nationwide.
