Lenovo Yoga Design and Built
The Yoga Slim 7 Pro weighs roughly 1.4 kilos, with a slim design. It’s available in silver color and the darker-grey model which is the color of our review unit. The designs are consistent with a current Yoga series, with polished metal parts and minimal Lenovo/Yoga branding. Also, the stickers from the armrest are removable.

Like the previous generation of YOGA, this laptop is built to last, with one of the finest keyboards in its class and it has no flex in the lid. Also did not experience any squeaky sounds from this laptop while using it, even when we’ve lifted it from a corner.

Its grainier rougher aluminum structure gives a good grip and is scratch-resistant, making it ideal for everyday use. Compared to the MacBook Pro’s smoother metals, this finish is less elegant, but it should last longer.

Lenovo also used a strong hinge, the kind that holds the screen in place during setup and permits one-handed use as well as the flexibility to push back the display flat to 180 degrees.

In terms of the display, the 14-inch screen is now a 16:10 panel with slim bezels on all sides and a layer of protective glass on top and there’s also an HD camera, sadly it does not come with a finger sensor in the power button.

The speakers can be heard coming from the bottom. While the rubber feet on the bottom of the laptop are ineffective for keeping it firmly in place on a table.

In terms of connectivity, it has a limited number of ports, including two USB-C ports that allow data, video, and charging one USB-A port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Therefore, if you need HMDI, an additional US port, or a card reader, you will need an adapter with multiple ports.

In terms of thermal design, it pulls in fresh air from the bottom and exhausts it through vents located beneath the hinge and screen. It does an excellent job of keeping things cool, and the hinge cover absorbs the majority of the heat.

The Yoga Slim 7 Pro is a well-built, high-quality laptop. Although biometrics is missing with limited ports, they are minor issues when compared to the many features it provides.

Keyboard and trackpad
The keyboard has nice full-sized and evenly spaced keycaps, making it easy and comfortable to type on. Using half-sized Up and Down keys with the auxiliary functions of Home/End/PgUp/PgDn takes time to get familiar with using it, but the rest of the controls are in their proper places.

The broad palm rest provides a comfortable typing experience. It’s great for typing in an office, classroom, or even a coffee shop because it makes a very low-pitched click sound. Although the LEDs are not extremely bright, they are adequate for use when the room’s natural light is not available. Additionally, it has an LED indicator for CAPS lock and FnLock, which is convenient.

The trackpad is larger than usual, and it is both responsive and accurate in its use. It does, however, have a plastic feel to it and is rather flimsy, but it is firmer and the clicks are solid.

OLED display
Yoga Slim 7 Pro’s OLED 14-inch screen boasts a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels (16:10), with 400-nits of brightness, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. In conjunction with the OLED panel’s fast response times, the display’ creates a smooth visual impression when scrolling through online pages and documents.

Using it outdoors in direct sunlight the screen’s brightness is good enough to counteract reflections from its non-glare display. also, we had no complaints in terms of viewing angle. While the dim light on the lowest brightness setting is helpful if you are using the laptop at night or in the bedroom.

Hardware and performance
Our Yoga Slim 7 Pro review unit is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS Creator Edition processor with 7nm architecture, a Radeon Vega 8 graphics, as well as 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 1TB SSD storage. Depending on the profile, it can run from 12.5 to 45W power. It uses 8 Radeon Vega chips with up to 2.0 GHz for graphics and the 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory soldered to the motherboard with one slot for the SSD storage.

Yoga Slim 7 Pro Benchmark performance:
⦁ PC Mark 10 Productivity test – 7,173 which is better performance compared to Dell Latitude 4,342 score.
⦁ PC Mark 10 Storage test – 1,736, better compared to Lenovo Thinkbook 14s score of 1,432.
⦁ Handbrake 1.5.1 (2022011000) – render time of 30-minute 4K File to 1080p, “Fast 1080p30” Preset took about 28-mins.
⦁ Geekbench 5.4.4 – 5,977 (higher score better)
⦁ Cinebench R23 – 5,567 (higher score better)

For daily tasks, this laptop is a great workhorse, it can smoothly handle any work-related task you throw at it. It’s capable of editing videos using Filmora or any other video editing software and easily completes the task at hand since it has processing power and graphics capabilities.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro

With its AMOLED display and widescreen, this laptop is great for streaming Netflix. It’s also capable of running online games like FarCry 5, but don’t expect it to perform well with graphics-intensive games. Audio is handled by a set of stereo speakers that fire through grills under the chassis.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro

When it comes to performance, you can’t go wrong with the Yoga Slim 7 Pro; it’s a well-built laptop with a powerful processor. Connectivity-wise, it has Wi-Fi 6 with MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card, and Bluetooth 5.0.

Lenovo opted for the most advanced thermal module for a compact laptop it uses two fans and two heat pipes to cool the CPU and GPU, which is great in dissipating heat for a system with a total power output of 45W. As a result of the Intelligent Cooling settings, this laptop is nearly silent when it is in use. In our time with it, we did not notice any coil whine or electronic noises, which was impressive considering we were using it on our laps at the airport due to the lack of available table space in the terminal.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro

It also features a high-definition camera, which can be used during Zoom meetings. It is sufficient for online video conferences, but don’t expect a high-quality image, particularly if you are in a dimly lit environment.

Overall, we enjoy using the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro for our work because of its comfortable keyboard, which allows us to type for long periods of time without fatigue. The OLED display is amazing and does not strain our eyes when we are staring at it. It is also a joy to watch our favorite shows on Netflix and HBO Go.

Battery life
The Yoga Slim 7 Pro series is equipped with a 61Wh battery, which is comparable to what the competition offers in this type of high-performance 14-inch laptop segment.

On daily use, we’re able to get at least 5-hours of screen time, with the brightness set to around 120 nits (60%) and the refresh rate set to 90 Hz, which is not bad considering its performance. However, when using Intelligent and Better Performance Mode with 60% screen brightness and Wi-Fi turned on, the battery life increased to around 6-hours.

The laptop comes with a 95W charger that connects through USB-C. The brick has an average size and a set of long and thick cables that total up to around 0.42 kg in weight. It takes approximately 2 hours to charge the battery, and since it’s a Type-C charger, you can also use it to charge your smartphone, which is sort of neat because you no longer need to carry a separate charger for your smartphone.

Pros
Well designed and great built quality
Subtle style with a smooth matte finish
Impressive 16:10 OLED screen
Comfortable keyboard and large trackpad
Excellent overall performance, thermals
Low noise levels
61Wh battery and good battery life
Competitively priced

Cons
limited connectivity
No touch support on the screen

Final thoughts
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro is a very powerful laptop. Its CPU performance is easily able to keep up even with large mobile workstations. With its dedicated GeForce-MX450 GPU, this makes this laptop even more versatile for work, and play. It is also a well-built laptop, with a robust chassis and designed to withstand daily use and expect extended lifespan, as well as a large battery and excellent 16:10 screen.
