Samsung Galaxy A73 5G Unboxing and First Impressions

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is the successor to last year's 4G-capable Galaxy A72. It features a large Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5000mA battery, and the first 108MP camera in the Samsung Galaxy A series.

The Galaxy A73 5G, like all other new Samsung Galaxy A-series smartphones, is packed in a slim white box displaying an image of the device on the front and key technical specs on the bottom.

There is no charger included since Samsung has started removing it even in its new mid-range smartphones, such as the new Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy A33 5G, and Galaxy A73 5G, hence the minimalist packaging.

This is disappointing, especially if you are looking to try out a Samsung smartphone for the first time, as you will need to purchase your own charger or another third-party fast charger.

First Impressions Galaxy A73 5G
Front and center, the Galaxy A73 5G flaunts its large 6.7-inch Full HD+ Infinity-O Super AMOLED+ display with 800 nits of brightness and support for a 120 Hz refresh rate, making everything look crisp, allowing for silky-smooth navigation, and providing top-notch gaming performance.

 It can produce an immersive viewing experience with its narrow bezels. The ambient light adaptive tone control further improves readability outdoors.

The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, making it more durable and less susceptible to scratches, and the fingerprint scanner is embedded within the display for further security. The device is also IP67 certified for splash and dust resistance.

 Additionally, the pouch-hole houses a 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture for taking selfies.

Thanks to its sleek design (7.6mm) and lightweight construction (181g), the Galaxy A73 5G looks and feels wonderful in the hand despite its large display. It's available in three refreshing colors: Awesome Mint, Awesome Gray, and Awesome White.

It features a quad camera system with a 108-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 5-megapixel lens for depth sensing in portrait images, and a 5-megapixel macro lens. It includes an LED light as well.

The primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker grill are on the base of the Galaxy A73. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a 3.5mm jack like its predecessor, the A72. 

Up top is the sim slot, which supports two nano-SIM options, or one nano-SIM and one microSD card that can handle up to 1TB capacity. 

While this may not be a significant concern for some people given the wide selection of affordable wireless earbuds available, those who still prefer wired headphones can use the type-C adapter.

The Galaxy A73 5G is powered by Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset which is a proven powerful processor in its category. It features RAM Plus that can expand RAM up to 16GB. It comes in 2 variants: 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB with expandable storage of up to 1TB. It has support for 9 5G bands and it runs Android 12 with One UI 4 on top.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy A73 5G will receive four major software updates and five years' worth of security patches. In addition, it comes with Samsung Pay with NFC, Knox security, and Secure Folder.

The Galaxy A73 5G is a stylish slim smartphone that comes in cool new colors, and its 108MP wide-angle camera can capture more light and detail for sharper photos and videos. It's a very capable 5G smartphone with a powerful mobile chipset in its class and can run any game available on Google Play.
