The "Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom," an innovative educational concept, was unveiled recently in order to bring quality education to marginalized people of society, particularly those in rural areas.
The Taiwanese government held the "Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring" competition, and SEED4Com (Sustainable Energy and Enterprise Development for Communities) came up with the idea, which started with a bicycle, a sidecar, and a few other things where the classroom meet the needs of students and teachers.
The Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom is equipped with Taiwan Excellence technologies, including monitors and laptops for both students and teachers. To make it totally sustainable, solar panels with a full inverter system and battery storage with a 3 kWh capacity were added, along with speaker systems and microphones, folding chairs, tables, and tents to make it resemble a classroom as much as possible. United Renewable Energy, GIGA-BYTE Technology, ASUSTeK Computer, Acer, Dacian Technology Material, Team Group Inc., and IPEVO Inc. are the companies that supported this initiative.

The Department of Education (DepEd) contributed to the DepEd-developed Alternative Learning System (ALS) learning modules that would be utilized in the launch of the Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom in the Cebu and Quezon areas. The objective of the program is to provide education to individuals in need. Learners will be instructed in topics such as Integrated Math, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills, and Digital Citizenship by attending sessions at the Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom.
Officials and representatives from Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, and the DepEd were present at the launch of the Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom.
“With the efforts of all devoted parties, the ‘Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom’ project will offer greater educational opportunities for learners of all ages in the Philippines. Today’s event is a start to connect with respective communities, a start to unite bilateral goodwill for those in need, and a start to trigger more parties to go for global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals,” says Cynthia Kiang, Director-General of Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) during her welcome remarks.
For his part, Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines said that Taiwan, being one of the leading innovators in the IT and tech industry, expressed gladness that Taiwan Excellence has gathered many parties’ efforts to make this philanthropic idea, the “Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom,” come true.
“I believe that this is an initiative and there will be more empowerment programs from bilateral agencies and enterprises. Our friendship and relationship will for sure be enhanced and strengthened,” Ambassador Hsu added.
"Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring" was organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) with the goal of making society a better place by providing everyone with the opportunity to talk about charitable and other altruistic activities related to the sustainable development of society and environmental protection using Taiwan Excellence products.
