Design and Build Quality
Holding the HONOR X7d, it feels surprisingly solid for a budget smartphone. At 8.24mm thick and 208g, it’s not the lightest, but it’s comfortable enough for everyday use.The matte back in Desert Gold color is a nice touch, it feels smooth and doesn’t pick up fingerprints, which is great because I’m always wiping my phone. The dual-camera bump with gold accents gives it a subtle elegance, almost like a more expensive device.
On the right, the power button doubles as a fingerprint scanner and works quickly, with the volume rocker just above. The left side has the Instant AI Button, super handy when I just want to launch the calculator or flashlight without scrolling through menus.
The Bottom houses the USB-C port, mic, speaker, and dual SIM tray; the top has another mic. With IP65 water resistance and SGS 5-Star Drop Protection, I felt confident using it outdoors, even in light rain or during the occasional accidental drop.
After a couple of weeks tossing it in my bag or pants pocket and accidentally dropping it once from desk height, it came out with barely a scratch, which is not bad at all.
Drawbacks: The Plastic back and frame do feel a bit cheap, and the camera bump makes it wobble slightly on flat surfaces. Still, for a phone at this price, it looks and feels pretty solid.
Display and Sound
The 6.77-inch display on the HONOR X7d actually feels smoother than I expected for a budget smartphone. Scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, or even just browsing feels nice and responsive thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. One thing I liked is how the screen handles light. Outdoors, the Sunlight Enhancement keeps everything visible, though I’ll admit, direct sunlight still washes out some videos. DC Dimming and Dynamic Dimming made long reading or scrolling sessions easier on my eyes.
Colors are natural enough indoors, and the brightness is plenty for casual use. I watched Netflix and YouTube for hours and didn’t notice too much eye strain.
Audio is surprisingly good, too. The dual stereo speakers are loud, and that 400% volume boost really helps if you’re outside. Bass is a bit weak, but voices come through clear.
Drawbacks: The screen is still 720p, so it’s not razor-sharp. Outdoors, some videos get washed out, and the speakers don’t thump like a full bass system, but they’re fine for everyday use.
Durability
This phone is built to survive the little accidents of everyday life. HONOR says it has 25% better impact resistance and 15% less risk of frame deformation, and honestly, after a couple of minor drops and some rainy-day commuting, it actually lives up to its “Made for the Unexpected” promise. It handled bumps, slips, and even a light drizzle without any problems. Dust and sand aren’t an issue either, and Wet-Hand Touch Enhancement actually works. I could answer a call with wet hands, and it registered my taps just fine.
Just remember, it’s not fully waterproof. I wouldn’t drop it in a pool, but for everyday splashes and rain, it’s tough enough.
Drawbacks: It’s still a plastic body, so it doesn’t feel like a premium phone, and submerging it in water is a no-go. Otherwise, it’s impressively rugged for its class.
Performance
Under the hood, it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor, paired with Adreno A610 GPU and up to 16GB RAM + 512GB storage, offering good performance for its price. After weeks of use, the HONOR X7d handled social media, browsing, video streaming, and multitasking with no problem at all. I could switch between messaging apps, YouTube, and browsing without lag.
For gaming, I tried Hunting Sniper for casual play, as well as Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings, which run well, though graphics-heavy titles pushed it to its limits. Still, it stayed stable, only getting slightly warm after long sessions. The graphics aren’t maxed out, but performance is more than adequate for most players.
On benchmarks, the X7d scored around 480,000 on AnTuTu, which puts it squarely in the midrange category. Daily use feels snappy, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and app transitions smooth and satisfying.
Overall, the HONOR X7d delivers smooth, reliable performance. It's a dependable device for everyday tasks, light gaming, and AI-assisted productivity.
Drawbacks: While this phone handles daily tasks and casual gaming well, it struggles with graphics-heavy games on high settings. The TFT LCD also lacks the vibrancy and smoothness of AMOLED screens, which can be noticeable in fast-paced games or color-rich videos.
OS and User Interface
MagicOS 9.0 (based on Android 15) feels simple, light, and easy to get around—no clutter or bloatware. Animations are smooth, and I liked the small touches like customizable widgets and Dark Mode. The Instant AI Button is a nice bonus. One tap and I can open the flashlight or calculator without digging through menus. Right now, it’s not fully customizable, and a few AI features like Magic Portal or AI Translate aren’t accessible yet, but it’s still handy.
Overall, the HONOR X7d’s MagicOS 9.0 delivers a clean, responsive, and AI-focused experience. It enhances productivity and convenience without overcomplicating the interface, and the Instant AI Button is a particularly handy feature for quick access to the phone’s functions.
Drawbacks: While the interface is smooth overall, some system animations can feel slightly delayed during heavy multitasking.
Connectivity
For everyday needs, the X7d handles connectivity well. Dual SIM makes it easy to separate work and personal numbers, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections stayed stable, with no random dropouts when I paired my headphones.GPS is accurate, and apps like Google Maps or ride-hailing services worked flawlessly. NFC is convenient for quick pairing, and USB-C with OTG lets you plug in flash drives or other accessories. Even with wet hands, the touchscreen responded thanks to Wet-Hand Touch Enhancement.
Overall, it’s a solid, practical smartphone for staying connected, making it a reliable choice for anyone who needs a dependable device for everyday use.
Drawbacks: No 5G support, so future-proofing is limited if you want faster mobile internet.

Camera
The HONOR X7d comes with a 108MP main rear camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an 8MP front camera for selfies. In daily use, the cameras are functional but nothing extraordinary. It can capture decent shots in good lighting, with solid colors and acceptable detail. Portrait mode gives nice background blur, though edge detection can be hit-or-miss.Low-light shots are less impressive, and noise is visible, though Night Mode helps brighten things up. The 8MP front camera does fine for selfies and video calls, nothing more. For casual social media snaps, it gets the job done. Just don’t expect flagship-level sharpness.
Sample Camera Shots
Video recording tops out at 1080p, and while stabilization isn’t perfect, clips are acceptable for casual use. The camera app is straightforward, offering Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, HDR, and AI modes, with AI helping optimize scenes automatically.
Overall, the X7d’s camera is adequate for everyday use, suitable for simple photos and videos but not for users seeking standout photography features.
Drawbacks: The cameras struggle in very low light, there’s no optical zoom, and the 2MP depth sensor sometimes produces artificial-looking blur.
Battery and Charging
The HONOR X7d packs a large 6500mAh dual-cell battery, and it holds up really well. I could go a full day with heavy social media, videos, and some light gaming without worrying about running out of juice. Even with notifications constantly pinging, it still had plenty of power by bedtime.Charging is supported by 35W HONOR SuperCharge, which charges the battery from around 10% to 50% in about half an hour, while a full charge takes about an hour. The dual-cell setup helps speed things up while also keeping the battery safe and durable over time.
Overall, the HONOR X7d offers impressive battery life and reliable fast charging, making it a practical choice for users who prioritize all-day power and minimal downtime.
Drawbacks: It does feel a bit chunky because of the big battery, and it warms slightly during long gaming sessions, but that’s a fair trade for the endurance it offers.
