Canon Philippines recently gathered filmmakers and content creators at Baked Studios in Makati City for “The Next Big Scene,” the launch of the Canon EOS C50 on December 3, 2025. The event showcased Canon’s newest cinema camera, designed to give creators professional-quality footage in a lightweight and mobile package.
The EOS C50 is Canon’s smallest and lightest Cinema EOS camera, yet it delivers impressive performance. It supports up to 7K 60p internal RAW recording in a handheld-friendly body. For the first time in the Cinema EOS line, it offers 3:2 Open Gate recording, capturing the full width and height of its 7K sensor, giving filmmakers more flexibility in post-production.
Another key feature is Simultaneous Crop Recording, which allows creators to record full 4K footage while also capturing cropped 2K vertical or square versions in a single take. This makes it ideal for creators producing content for multiple platforms without needing separate shoots.
Attendees got hands-on experience with the camera, exploring how it makes professional filmmaking more accessible, whether for documentaries, social media, or larger productions. A fireside chat featured industry professionals Paolo Ruiz (Advertising Filmmaker), Ian Celis (Commercial and Wedding Videographer), Gabby Cantero (Food and Lifestyle Director), and Carlo Obispo (Film Director and Screenwriter). They discussed topics such as vertical-format content, camera ergonomics, technical workflows, and how features like simultaneous crop recording can enhance creativity.
“Filipino filmmakers and content creators continue to push boundaries of creative storytelling,” said Jian Liu, Consumer Information and Imaging (CII) Director of Canon Marketing Philippines. “Regardless of format, their stories deserve cinema-quality production. We've packed cinema-grade technology into a camera built for versatility, so technical limitations don't dictate what stories get told.”
“Our mission is to empower every creator in the Philippines to tell their stories without compromise,” added Anuj Aggarwal, President and CEO of Canon Marketing Philippines. “With the EOS C50, Canon continues to deliver professional tools that match the ambition and creativity of our local filmmaking community.”
The EOS C50 addresses the growing demand for versatile, professional filmmaking tools in the Philippines. Its compact design and advanced features allow creators to produce content for any screen, from cinema to social media, without sacrificing quality.
The Canon EOS C50 (Body Only with XLR Handle) is priced at ₱189,998, making it a premium yet highly portable option for filmmakers who need professional performance in a lightweight package.
