After re-entering the smartphone market in 2025, Acer is continuing to expand its mobile lineup with the launch of the Acer Sospiro A15. The new budget-friendly smartphone brings an unusual feature to its segment a secondary display on the back.
The smartphone was introduced for the Latin American market and aims to offer practical features for everyday users while standing out with its dual-screen design.
A Brief History of Acer Smartphones
Acer is no stranger to the smartphone industry. The company previously released several Android smartphones under its Liquid series before gradually stepping away from the market around 2016 to focus on its core PC and consumer electronics business.
After nearly a decade away, Acer returned to smartphones in 2025 by re-entering the Indian market through a licensing partnership with Indkal Technologies. Its comeback began with the Acerone Liquid S162E4 and Liquid S272E4, followed by the Super ZX series. The Acer Sospiro A15 marks another step in the company's renewed smartphone strategy as it expands into the Latin American market.
Dual Displays Stand Out
The Acer Sospiro A15 features a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling and animations than traditional 60Hz displays. The phone's standout feature is its 1.88-inch TFT rear display, positioned beside the camera module.
The secondary screen can display notifications, music controls, battery status, and other useful information without needing to unlock the phone. It also works as a live viewfinder, allowing users to take selfies using the higher-resolution rear camera.
64MP AI Camera
For photography, the Acer Sospiro A15 is equipped with a 64MP AI dual rear camera paired with an LED flash. Since the rear display doubles as a viewfinder, users can use the main camera for selfies instead of relying only on the front-facing shooter. The front of the phone houses a 16MP selfie camera with its own flash for video calls and low-light selfies.
Powered by Unisoc T615
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Unisoc T615 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Acer also includes virtual RAM expansion for improved multitasking.
Storage can be expanded via a microSD card up to 1TB, giving users plenty of room for photos, videos, and apps.
Although it doesn't support 5G, the Sospiro A15 offers a solid feature set for users looking for an affordable Android smartphone with a distinctive design.
