realme 8 5G Unboxing and First Impression!

realme added a new variant of its midrange 8 series, the realme 8 5G as the name implies is a 5G smartphone that features a Dimensity 700 5G processor with a 90Hz ultra-smooth display and 5000mAh massive battery.

It's nice to see that 5G smartphones today are now more affordable and more powerful which makes the adoption of 5G services available to more consumers. With the new realme 8 5G, realme fans can enjoy the power of 5G at an affordable price.

Unboxing
The realme 8 5G comes in a realme standard yellow box with the branding at the front of the box, and the tech specs at the back. It comes in two colors, Supersonic Blue and Supersonic Black with the latter being the color of my review unit.

Inside the box are the realme 8 5G phone, USB Type-C cable, 9V2A charger, SIM pin, soft protective case, user handbook, and warranty card are all included in the packaging, unfortunately, no earbuds included.

Design and Built
Unlike the realme 8 and 8 Pro, the realme 8 5G has a different back design. It features a "Dynamic Light Design Supersonic Speed" design that looks like a ray of lights coming from the camera.

The phone has a gorgeous reflective matter surface back cover, and it's lightweight and simple to grip at only 185g and 8.5mm thick, making it easy to operate with one hand. With its excellent glossy deep hue, it also has a premium appearance.

Still at the rear, there's a triple camera system with a large camera bulge; fortunately, it comes with a free case that can provide additional lens protection.

The power button, which also serves as a fingerprint scanner, is located on the right side and is somewhat recess, making it easier to access. It also unlocks the phone quickly and reliably, which is excellent so no complaints here.

The volume control is placed at the left side and above is the SIM slot that has a triple tray slot, which means it supports two 5G nano-SIM and a dedicated microSD card slot for extra storage. This is nice since now I can use two different SIM cards to enjoy 5G speed when it's available.

The top and bottom parts are somewhat recessed, which is actually quite attractive. The type-C connector, 3.5mm audio jack, speaker grille, and microphone are all located at the bottom of the device.

The realme 8 5G boasts a 16.5cm(6.5-inch) full-screen display just like the other realme 8 series with Full HD+ resolution, that's 1080×2400 pixel density with 405-pixel per-inch. It has a 90Hz refresh rate, 90.5% scree-to-body ratio, 600 nits peak brightness. The 16MP AI beauty selfie camera is placed at the topmost part of the screen.

Performance
Powering the realme 8 5G is a 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, that supports a Dual 5G SIM that’s always on, it delivers lower power consumption, less heat, and more powerful performance.

The Dimensity 700 mixes two highly capable Arm Cortex-A76 ‘Big’ cores in its octa-core CPU operating up to a speedy 2.2GHz, speedy LPDDR4X memory up to 2,133MHz, and fast UFS 2.2 2-lane storage enabling 1GB/s data streaming. This ensures a great all-around smartphone experience. The 7nm production process, which is up to 28% more power-efficient than an equivalent 8nm process, allowing the Dimensity 700 can use its high-performance processors while only sipping power, extending battery life.

The main feature of the realme 8 5G is its supports the latest 5G Dual-SIM dual-standby technology and is compatible with SA/NSA standards and mainstream bands worldwide. It also features a Smart 5G technology that intelligently switches between 4G and 5G depending on the usage scenario to save battery.
