Unboxing
The vivo X70 5G comes in a square box with a premium feel to it that makes it stand out from the crowd. On the front of the box, is the branding for the X70, including the ZEISS emblem, and on the rear of the box, there are technical specs for the device.
Opening the box will reveal the X70 5G smartphone along with the accessories, which include the wired earphones, USB Type-C cable, 44W Fast Charger, SIM tray PIN, protective case, and documentation. It's a complete package, it also comes with a pre-installed screen protector.
The V70 doesn't come equipped with a standard headphone jack (3.5mm). But in addition to the earphones in the box, it also includes a USB Type-C adapter and extra silicon eartips, now that is added value for money.
Initial Impressions
The V70 is a camera-focused smartphone that is housed in an exquisite body design that is manufactured with high-quality materials Fluorite AG and its available in two colorways the Aurora Dawn and Cosmic Black.
The hue of our review unit, Aurora Dawn, is just gorgeous. The smooth surface resists smudges and fingerprints, and when touched by light, the aurora hues sparkle, making this device a show stopper.
The X70 is a sexy device that is designed to be held comfortably in the hand. In terms of thickness, it's only 7.55mm thin and weighs only 181 grams, making it a lightweight device to carry around.
The vertically stacked camera system at the back has a very thick hump. This is due to the extremely big camera sensors and the vivo's Gimbal Stabilization 3.0. Thankfully, it comes with a FREE case that protects the cameras from scratches.
The 40-megapixel Sony IMX766V main camera features vivo's Ultra-sensing Gimbal Stabilization 3.0, which provides significantly enhanced stability over the previous generation, particularly in a low light shooting.
Going to the right side is where the volume rocker and power/lock buttons are, and they provide a satisfying clicky feel when pressed, so no complaints here.
The V70 features a large 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, with slim bezels. The selfie camera is placed in a punch hole, and there's an earpiece and IR blaster at the top of the device with the inscribed "Professional Photography" in bold letters.
Due to its 120Hz refresh rate, the AMOLED display appears exceptionally sharp with deep blacks and bright colors. It is HDR10+ certified and equipped with a high-resolution audio system, which provides a more immersive viewing experience. Furthermore, it is verified for eye protection by SGS Eye Care and SGS Seamless certified.
The Type-C USB port is located at the bottom of the device, flanked by the primary microphone, loudspeaker, and the tray for the Dual SIM card slot.
The vivo X70 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G chipset clocked up to 3.0GHz, paired with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, it comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Out of the box, it runs on OriginOS 1.0 which is Funtouch OS 12, based on Android 11. It also packs a 4400mAh battery with 44W FlashCharge fast charging support.
The IU has a fresh new look and it's very responsive, apps launch quickly and the animations are silky smooth. The X70 achieved a score of 674,558 on the AnTuTu benchmark, placing it 27th overall. We will put its gaming capabilities to the test with popular titles such as Call of Duty Mobile, Pokémon UNITE, and Asphalt 9, among others, in our comprehensive review.
The Vivo X70 5G is a stylish smartphone with an excellent camera and a premium design. So far, we're impressed with what this phone can do. Price and availability information will be available following the official launch, so keep an eye out for updates.
Keep an eye out for our comprehensive review of the Vivo X70 5G coming soon.
