realme 8i Unboxing and First Impression

realme Philippines has officially introduced the realme 8i, the successor to last year's realme 7i. It features a 120Hz ultra-smooth display, a powerful Helio G96 chipset, and a 50-megapixel AI Triple camera.

The realme 8i is the latest addition to the widely successful 8 series lineup. We got a hold of the realme 8i days before its official launch and here's our unboxing and first impression.

Unboxing
Just like any other realme smartphone, it comes in a standard yellow box with the branding on the front and the technical specifications on the back.

Inside it includes the realme 8i smartphone, a USB Type-C cable an 18W Charge Adapter, SIM Card PIN, protective case, a quick guide, and important product information (including the Warranty Card). Sadly no earphones included in the package.

First Impression
The realme 8i is available in two variants the 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB version and it also comes in two colors the Space Black and Stellar Purple. Our review unit is the 4GB+64GB version in Space Black color.

The realme 8i sports a triple camera at the back with 50-megapixel, f/1.8, 5P lens, a primary Camera, with a B&W, f/2.4, 3P lens portrait sensor, and a 4cm macro lens, with the LED light encased on a camera lens which makes it cleaner design.

The realme 8i has a large 6.6-inch display with a screen-to-body aspect ratio of 90.8% which means lesser bezels thus the larger screen size. It has a punch-hole screen and a selfie camera is at the left corner. The screen has 2412 × 1080 pixel resolution with a 2.5D curved glass screen and rounded corners.

The screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate; this enables smooth screen scrolling and the high touch sampling rate is advantageous when playing games, particularly shooting games, which require a quick and accurate touch of the screen to win.

The power button, which also functions as a fingerprint scanner, is placed on the right side and is slightly recessed, making it easy to feel and press.

While the volume control and SIM tray are located on the left side, which is where we prefer buttons to be placed for quick and pleasant use. The triple card tray can accommodate two 4G nano-SIM cards as well as a microSD card that supports up to 256GB capacity.

The Type-C USB port, as well as the 3.5mm audio jack, primary microphone, and loudspeaker grille, are all positioned at the bottom of the device.

The realme 8i is powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 processor with a clock speed of up to 2.05GHz and it uses a mix of ARM Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 for a seamless and visually gaming experience. It also has a 5000mAh Massive battery with 18W fast charging.

The Helio G96 SoC manages CPU, GPU, and memory based on active power, thermal, and gameplay measurements. It offers better performance in demanding scenes and intense gameplay. We can't wait to see how it performs in our game test.

In the mid-range category, the new realme 8i is a major upgrade over the realme 7i and it offers impressive design and performance. If you're looking for a new smartphone with an elegant design, 120Hz screen, powerful processor, excellent cameras, and a large battery with 18W fast charging this realme phone is a good option.

Prices and Availability
The realme 8i 4GB+64GB will retail for ₱9,990 as an early-bird offer exclusively on Lazada, it will be available for ₱8,990 (₱1,000 discount) starting November 17, 12 MN onwards.

While the realme 8i 6GB+128GB will retail for ₱11,990 it will be available for ₱10,990 (₱1,000 discount) starting November 17, 12MN onwards.

The realme 8i will be available online exclusively on Lazada, and in all realme offline stores and partner dealers nationwide.
