realme latest True Wireless Stereo (TWS) offering, the realme Buds Air 3 is packed with innovative features that combine both function and style, perfect for today's music lovers.
Now that the realme Buds Air 3 has been released as the successor to the Buds Air 2, it's time to see if this latest version of realme buds Airs is worth the upgrade.
Design and Built
The realme Buds Air 3 retains the same design as its predecessor, but with a few tweaks. The most noticeable difference is the shorter stems, which contribute to the Buds Air 3 lighter weight and good fit in the ear.
The charging case still has the same shape as the previous version, but the realme logo has been relocated from the middle to the top of the lid on a see-through plastic creating an eye-catching design.
The Buds Air 3 is available in two colorways: Starry Blue and Galaxy White, the latter of which is the color of our test unit. The lid opens effortlessly with a flick of the finger, the buds are held in place by magnets, and the top shuts securely with a snap.
The Type-C charging port is still placed at the bottom, and sadly it still does not support wireless charging. Additionally, the box includes a type-C cable, extra eartips, and important paper materials.
The earbuds are constructed of plastic and have a matte finish on the stems It's more comfortable to use and hold and it prevents fingerprints, dirt, and grime from accumulating which nice feature.
Buds Air 3 Features
The Buds Air 3 features two microphones that can filter out up to 42 decibels of ambient noise. It has a 10mm Dynamic Bass Boost driver with customized audio tuning and is water-resistant to IPX5 standards.

Additionally, realme equipped the Buds Air 3 with a Transparency Mode that allows for clear sound from your surroundings, allowing you to converse easily without taking them out of the ear.
It connects wirelessly over Bluetooth 5.2 and supports the SBC and AAC audio codecs. Dolby Atmos is also available on some smartphones, allowing you to customize the audio experience according on what you are doing, whether you're watching a movie, listening to music, or playing games.
The multipoint pairing function of the Buds Air 3 is handy if you have multiple devices since you can connect them to both your smartphone and your laptop and effortlessly switch between the two as needed. It also has in-ear sensing that pauses media as soon as you remove the earbuds from your ears.

Touch controls are also supported, although they require some practice to fully utilize this feature. Using realme's Link app, you can configure the taps functions for either earbud. The app is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms.
Sound Quality
The Buds Air 3 sits comfortably in the ear, and with the provided additional ear tips, we're able to choose the one that fits snugly in the ear canal. In terms of connection between our realme 9 Pro+ was stable, and we didn't notice any hiccups when using it within the range.

In terms of sound quality, the 10mm dynamic drivers in the Buds Air 3 produce a powerful and punchy sound with good bass, but without being unpleasant. In our opinion, the default sound profile of the Buds Air 3 is balanced, and they are among the nicest sounding earbuds we had used lately. High and mid frequencies were audible, as well as just enough bass without distorting other elements of the music.
While listening to a variety of genres of music, watching YouTube videos, playing games, and listening to podcasts is entertaining, the Buds Air 3 delivered solid audio in each circumstance. While ANC noise cancellation worked to some extent and effectively blocked out static noise, it was more about the fit of the buds that form a good seal in the ear.

Buds Air 3 includes three different sound profiles: Balanced, Bass Boost+, and Bright, with the latter being the default. The Bright profile has the best sound quality in our opinion, while Bass Boost+ intensifies the bass in favor of a more balanced sound profile (which we prefer).
In terms of voice calls, the call quality is excellent, with users on the other end of the line hearing our clear voice even while we are walking down the street, which was not the case with some other buds we tried.
Battery Life
The battery capacity of the Buds Air 3 is 43mAh, while the case has 460mAh. As per realme, with noise cancellation switched on, the buds' battery life is estimated to be 5.5 hours, and the total battery life with noise cancellation turned on is around 22 hours.

On our test, we're able to get 5 hours of playtime with ANC on, which is closed to what realme claimed so not bad battery life for tiny earphones.
With ANC turned on, we were able to achieve 5 hours of playtime, which is close to what realme claimed, making it a fair battery life for such compact earbuds. Additionally, we were able to use it during one of our bike rides when it unexpectedly rained, but since it is certified IPX5, we were not worried about it being damaged.
Charging the case takes around 1.5 hours using the type-C connection. Unfortunately, it lacks wireless charging, which realme has yet to incorporate into the Buds Air TWS series.
Pros
Premium looking design
Lightweight
Great audio quality with AAC
Multi-device connection
Improved ANC
Good battery life with fast charging
Cons
Touch controls are not accurate
No volume control option for earbuds
No aptX support
