PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) fully restore network services in Leyte after #PaengPH spread through several provinces in the Philippines.

PLDT and Smart networks were also resilient in North Luzon despite the effects of Typhoon Paeng. Bulacan's fixed and wireless networks have been partially restored.

Currently, the Group is coordinating restoration activities in Metro Manila, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. There is also an ongoing network evaluation in regions experiencing service outages as a result of a commercial power failure because of 'Paeng'.

“PLDT and Smart are working double time to ensure our network can continue to be of service in times of disasters, all thanks to our operations and network teams. Aside from this, we will begin distributing relief aid to severely affected areas, made possible by our volunteers. We have also opened more free calls and charging stations as part of our efforts on communication as aid,” said Cathy Yang, First Vice President and Group Head of Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.

In the next days, relief aid will be provided to affected towns in Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Marinduque, Capiz, Antique, Aklan, Maguindanao del Norte, and Zamboanga City.

In Aurora and Marinduque, more Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) facilities were established to allow locals to communicate with their families.

As part of their commitment to nation-building, PLDT and Smart provide not just fast and reliable connections, but also a network that can endure natural calamities and is there for the Filipino community, leaving no one behind.

I'm sure PLDT-Smart was ready even before #PaengPH hit. And as the graphic shows, they don't limit themselves to just communications repair.
