The new CMC will focus on remanufacturing multi-function printers collected from across Asia-Pacific. These devices will undergo a meticulous process:
- Complete disassembly down to the component level
- Intensive cleaning, inspection, and part diagnosis
- Repair and restoration of reusable components
- Full reassembly following the same quality standards applied to brand-new units
Each remanufactured printer will receive a reset usage history, new serial number, and fresh manufacturing date—essentially giving it a new life. FUJIFILM reports a maximum parts reuse rate of 84% by weight, underscoring its commitment to reducing e-waste and maximizing material recovery.
Why the Philippines?
FOPH was strategically selected due to its proven capabilities in precision manufacturing, having previously built advanced components like interchangeable digital camera lenses. The Philippines’ geographical position in the heart of Asia-Pacific also offers key logistical advantages in supply chain efficiency and regional distribution.
Moreover, FUJIFILM is investing in human capital by training Filipino personnel in the advanced remanufacturing techniques developed in Japan. These local experts will spearhead operations, bringing global standards to the Philippine manufacturing scene.
Global Network of Circular Innovation
This Philippine initiative builds on FUJIFILM’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. Since 1995, the company has implemented comprehensive recycling and resource circulation programs that span the full lifecycle of its products—from design to disposal. Previous circular manufacturing sites include:
- FUJIFILM Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) Corp. in China
- CMC in the Netherlands, launched in 2024
A Bold Step Toward a Greener Future
This new facility is not just a production site it’s a symbol of innovation, cooperation, and purpose-driven growth. FUJIFILM’s move positions the Philippines as a key player in circular manufacturing and signals the rising importance of Southeast Asia in global sustainability efforts.
Stay tuned as FUJIFILM Optics Philippines Inc. gears up for an impactful launch in 2026. Expect this initiative to set new standards in eco-conscious tech, transforming the way businesses approach product lifecycle and environmental stewardship.
