A new version of Lucario has been discovered, and confirmed to be a Mega Evolution rather than a standard Evolution. It changes form through a Mega Stone, gaining power beyond what a regular Lucario can reach. This form is called Mega Lucario Z to set it apart from the original Mega Lucario that fans already know.

What Is Z Mega Evolution?
Mega Lucario Z will appear in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC. It also introduces Z Mega Evolution, a new style of Mega Evolution with a different battle flow. Z Mega Evolutions can use moves faster after receiving a command, giving Trainers a big advantage in short battles. But there’s a catch—they burn through Mega Power quickly. This means Trainers need to finish fights fast before their power runs out.
New Mewtwo Side Mission Now Available
Starting December 2, 2025, Trainers can receive Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y through the Mystery Gift feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. This also unlocks an extra side mission focused on Mewtwo.

If Trainers clear this mission, they will get the chance to add the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo to their team. With the Mega Stones received through Mystery Gift, Mewtwo can Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y, depending on which stone it holds.
Note: You must finish the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A or its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition before playing this mission.
How to Start Mewtwo’s Extra Side Mission
1. Claim Your Mega Stones
Open the Mystery Gift menu and select “Get via Internet.”. Check your satchel’s Mega Stones pocket to make sure you have both Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y.

2. Visit Lysandre Café
After claiming the stones, head to Lysandre Café. Some systems inside Lysandre Labs may react to the Mega Stones, leading you into the mission.

You can play this mission on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of the game. An internet connection and a Nintendo Account are required. The Mystery Gift feature becomes available about one hour into the game.
Both the physical and digital versions can receive the gifts.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
A dedicated version for Nintendo Switch 2 will also be released. This edition takes advantage of the system’s improved hardware to deliver better graphics and smoother performance during your journey in Lumiose City.
