Synology is expanding the role of the BeeStation Plus, moving beyond personal storage into home monitoring. With the introduction of the BeeCamera mobile app, the device now supports a privacy-first monitoring setup that avoids cloud dependency and recurring fees.

The update positions BeeStation Plus as more than just a file hub, giving users a way to manage both their data and camera system in one place. It continues to focus on ease of use. Designed as a plug-and-play solution, it allows users to quickly connect supported Synology cameras and start monitoring through the BeeCamera app.

The process stays straightforward, making it accessible even for users who don’t want to deal with complex security system setups. A key part of this new experience is how it handles data. Instead of relying on cloud storage, footage is processed and stored locally on the BeeStation Plus.

The system also uses on-camera AI detection to identify people, pets, vehicles, and intrusion events. This helps make alerts more relevant, especially when combined with customizable detection zones and schedules.

The BeeCamera mobile app serves as the main control center for the entire setup. Users can access live camera feeds, review recorded events, and adjust monitoring settings in one place.
Events are organized into a unified timeline, making it easier to review activity throughout the day and filter by specific event types when needed.

Recordings follow a retention system based on available storage. Since Synology BeeStation Plus shares space across files, photos, and videos, storage usage can vary depending on how it’s managed. For important moments, users can save clips into Collections to keep them from being overwritten.

This setup is aimed at both home users and small-scale businesses. It supports up to four cameras and allows access sharing with up to eight invited users. Each user can view live feeds, receive alerts, and review recorded events, making it suitable for households or small teams managing a shared space.

The BeeCamera mobile app works with supported Synology cameras and requires BeeStation Plus running BeeStation OS 1.5 or later. Supported models include CC400W, BC500, and TC500. Storage is shared across files and photo storage, so available capacity may vary depending on usage.

With this update, BeeStation Plus expands into a more complete home solution. By combining storage and monitoring in one device, Synology offers a simpler alternative to traditional cloud-based camera systems.
