Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

Although the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is the successor to the Galaxy A52 series, in comparison to the A52 and A52 5G, it might be considered another generation of the Galaxy A-series with its more powerful Snapdragon 5G chipset.

Design and Built
In terms of design, the Galaxy A52s 5G is identical to its predecessor. The back panel is made of polycarbonate material with a matte back panel which is excellent at repelling fingerprints and smudges. It comes in Awesome White, Blue, Violet, and Black. The latter is the color of our review unit.

The quad-camera modules protrude slightly with the same finish and color, which is a standout design element. This draws attention to the lens cut-outs and lends the phone appear to be more prominent.

This phone’s build quality is excellent, and you can definitely tell when you hold it. At 189 grams, it’s a bit heavy but still comfortable to use. Its rated IP67, which means it is water-resistant and can withstand 30 minutes of submersion in the water.

The SIM card slot is located on the top, alongside the microphone. It features a hybrid design, which means you can use two nano-SIM cards or one nano-SIM and one microSD card. However, given the phone’s large storage capacity, it’s best to use two nano-SIM cards to take advantage of its 5G connectivity.

The 3.5mm audio connector, Type-C port, a single speaker, and a microphone are all located at the bottom of the device.

AMOLED Display and Audio
It features a 6.5-inch Infinity-O Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120hz refresh rate with 800 nits for a clearer display even in bright daylight making it usable even in direct sunlight. It also features an Eye Comfort Shield that lowers blue light, to keep the eye protected from harmful light.

In terms of color reproduction, with its AMOLED display, the colors look incredible. It has two profiles options: Natural and Vivid (default) which features advanced settings, that include adjusting RGB colors using the toner slider. Personally, we like Vivid mode with default settings nice the colors already look vibrant.

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

The Galaxy A52s 5G supports two refresh rates: 60Hz (Standard) and 120Hz (High) refresh rate, the frame rate is fixed and there are no adaptive adjustments. When in 120Hz mode, scrolling the screen and apps such as YouTube, Netflix, games, and social media, looks smoother.

It does not support options for a higher touch sampling rate, which is a bummer because this would enhance the gaming experience.

Performance and Samsung IU 3.1
The most significant enhancements to the Galaxy A52s 5G is that it packs and more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset with a 6nm chipset architecture, a faster and more responsive processor paired with Adreno 642L GPU, and an X53 5G modem, (up to 3.3Gbps downlink speeds). That’s a significant improvement over the Snapdragon 750G that the Galaxy A52 is equipped with.

In addition, it has 8GB of RAM a 128GB internal storage with a MicroSD slot that supports up to 1TB for optional extra storage. It also packs a 4,500mAh battery. Sadly it does not support Virtual RAM, Hoping that it will get an update soon with these features.

The Snapdragon 778G 5G mobile platform, powered by Qualcomm’s 6th Generation AI Engine, combines a Qualcomm Hexagon 770 CPU with an AI accelerator to enable faster data transfer. Additionally, it includes Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for rapid, efficient gameplay with high visual fidelity that does not drain the battery quickly. Additionally, the Game Quick Touch enhances responsiveness by up to 20%, resulting in a more enjoyable gaming experience.

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

The Galaxy A52s 5G performs well on benchmark apps, scoring 469,076 on AnTuTu, 533 single-core / 1464 multi-core on Geekbench 5, and 9631 on PC Mark (Work 3.0).

In everyday use, the Galaxy A52s 5G is capable of handling any task and apps run smoothly without lag; multitasking is a breeze; switching between apps is also quick. Samsung IU 3.1 is an enhanced redesigned IU that looks more simple with a large and vibrant apps icon and provides a seamless experience.

As far as games go, this phone can run a broad variety of games, including some that require high graphics settings like Genshin Impact. Call of Duty: Mobile, PUBG: Mobile, and other PFS games. Mortal Kombat, one of our favorite games, works smoothly and the gameplay is fantastic, especially when we score a fatality.

Battery Life
With a 4,500mAh battery, the Galaxy A52s 5G falls slightly short compared with other Galaxy A-series in terms of battery capacity. This may be the trade-off given the Galaxy A52s 5G slimmer design. Additionally, it allows fast-charging up to 25W, but unfortunately, it does not support wireless charging.

Using the Galaxy A52, we were able to get a full day’s worth of screen time, and by midnight it still has around 20% battery, which is impressive given its battery capacity. We were unable to test the phone’s fast charging capabilities because our review unit did not include a 25W wall charger.

Cameras
It sports a quad-camera system on its back, similar to the Galaxy A52, with a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, a 5-megapixel macro lens, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. For taking selfies there’s a 32-megapixel front camera.

Verdict

In comparison to its predecessor the Galaxy A52, the new Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G does not offer many improvements. Its key upgrade is a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G processor that supports 5G connectivity. If you’re in the market to replace your old 4G smartphone with a powerful device that also has very capable cameras, the Galaxy A52s 5G is a good option if money isn’t an issue; otherwise, the Motorola Edge 20 pro is a solid option as well.
