Meta has introduced a new way to interact with its personal AI agent called Muse Charm, the small device is designed to give users quick access to Muse without needing to pull out a smartphone or open an app.
The device was unveiled during Meta Connect 2026 as part of Meta’s growing push to make Muse available across different types of hardware. Unlike Meta’s AI glasses, Muse Charm is designed as a pocket-sized device that can also be carried as a keychain-style accessory.
Meta describes Muse Charm as a device built specifically for talking and interacting with Muse. It combines the personal AI agent with a real-time voice model in a form factor that can fit in a pocket.
A Small Device Built Around Muse
The Muse Charm is essentially a dedicated physical interface for Meta’s AI agent. A small display shows an animated representation of Muse, giving the device a more visual and interactive character than a conventional voice assistant. The device can be carried in a pocket or attached to a keychain, keeping Muse accessible throughout the day.
The prototype demonstrated by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also features a fingerprint sensor that can be tapped to start interacting with Muse. This removes the need to unlock a smartphone, launch an application, and begin a conversation manually.
The device also appears to have a camera, allowing Muse to use visual information as part of an interaction. This could make the Charm useful when asking about something directly in front of the user, although Meta has not yet provided a complete breakdown of its camera capabilities.
Muse Does More Than Answer Questions
Muse is positioned by Meta as a personal AI agent rather than a conventional chatbot. The system can handle tasks on a user's behalf and work with connected services. Meta says Muse can perform actions such as sending emails, working with files, completing forms, and helping with travel and shopping.
At Meta Connect 2026, Meta also announced additional integrations for Muse. These include retailers and services such as Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair, and Instacart, along with payment support through Shop Pay and PayPal. Other integrations include Notion, Granola, GitHub, and Box.
Muse is also gaining a dedicated email address, expanded voice conversations, and the ability to continue working on tasks through Muse for Mac with the user's permission. The Charm provides another access point for these capabilities, putting the agent in a dedicated device rather than keeping it inside a phone or computer.
Real-Time Voice Interaction
Voice is one of the main parts of the Muse Charm experience. Meta says the device brings its state-of-the-art real-time voice model into a compact form factor. Muse can hold longer conversations while continuing to work on tasks in the background.
Meta is also expanding voice customization, allowing users to describe the type of voice they want, including changes to speed and accent. The company is positioning Muse as an agent that can remain available during the day rather than something that users only open when they have a specific question.
Designed as Another Way to Access Muse
The Muse Charm does not replace the Muse app. Instead, it provides another way to access the same AI agent. Muse is currently available through dedicated apps and other platforms, while Meta is also preparing to bring Muse to its AI glasses in the coming months.
That makes the Charm part of a broader strategy. Meta is building several ways for users to interact with the same personal AI system depending on what they are doing.
A smartphone can provide the full visual interface. A computer can give Muse access to desktop applications. AI glasses can provide hands-free interaction with the world around the user. The Charm provides a smaller, dedicated device that can be carried almost anywhere.
Hardware Details Are Still Limited
Meta has not yet released a complete specification sheet for Muse Charm. The company says it will have more to share later this year, and reports from the Connect demonstration indicate that the hardware components are still being finalized.
The demonstrated device has a small display, fingerprint sensor, and camera, but details such as processor, battery capacity, connectivity, storage, dimensions, and charging have not been officially disclosed.
Pricing has also not been announced. This means the final retail version could still differ from the prototype shown during Meta Connect.
Expected Availability
Meta has indicated that Muse Charm is planned for the holiday season, with current reports pointing to a December release. The exact launch date and markets have not yet been confirmed, and Meta has not announced the price. For now, Muse Charm remains a preview of a new hardware format for Meta's personal AI platform.
The Next Smartphone Companion?
Muse Charm raises an interesting question about the future of smartphone companions. OPPO Bubble and the new TECNO Charm are also exploring smaller devices designed to work alongside smartphones.
Meta is taking a similar approach with Muse Charm, putting its AI agent into a compact device for quick, everyday interactions. Whether this becomes a new trend remains to be seen, but with more brands exploring the idea, smartphone companions could become an interesting category to watch.
