The realme 9 Pro+ design framed by sheets of glass features a polycarbonate frame with rounded corners. Given its slim profile (7.99mm) and lightweight (184g), this phone is easy to carry and quite comfortable to use. The glossy back panel is a big-time fingerprint/smudge magnet, but it’s worth it for the stunning Aurora Green color and attention-getting design of this phone.

The power button is strategically placed on the right side, while the volume rocker is on the opposite side. Both perform quite well and have a very pleasant tactile feel while in use.

The SIM card slot is also on the left, although it’s a dual nano-SIM tray without a micro SD card slot, rather than the triple tray which is normally found on realme smartphones. But this is a minor issue given the device’s large internal storage capacity which is 256GB.

The Type-C port, headphone jack, microphone, and speaker, which is a pair of dual speakers backed by Dolby Atmos and High-Resolution audio, are all located on the bottom.

All things considered, the realme 9 Pro+ is a beautifully designed smartphone with a slim profile and a lightweight design that makes it comfortable to hold and use.

AMOLE Display
The mid-range phone flaunts a vibrant 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a pixel density of 411ppi. The Samsung-made OLED is vivid and produces rich colors making the Realme 9 Pro+ a good device for multimedia consumption.

The 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display on this midrange phone has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a pixel density of 411 pixels per inch. The Samsung-made OLED is vivid and produces vibrant and deep colors, making it an excellent multimedia device.

Games and movies look more realistic, while HDR10 compatibility and high brightness levels make it possible to use it outside even in bright sunlight. Also, the minimum brightness, which is 1.9 nits, is also quite impressive. This means that the phone will be easier on the eyes when used in a low-light situation.

At the top of the display, there is a punched hole for the front-facing camera. Additionally, there is an in-display fingerprint reader that can also measure heart rate, but realme notes it’s still an experimental feature. This can be activated in the Settings section of the realme Lab.

Swiping and scrolling over the screen is fluid, thanks to the display’s 90Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touchscreen sampling rate. The display also supports HDR10 and DCI-P3 (Digital Cinema Initiatives – Protocol 3) color spaces. It offers three different color profiles: Vivid, Natural, and Pro, which includes settings for Cinematic and Brilliant. The cinematic option provides the most accurate color reproduction.

Hardware Performance
This midrange smartphone is powered by a 6nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset with an integrated 5G modem. It also includes an Arm Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of UFS2.2 storage.

There are two Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz octa-core processor. It also has the latest connectivity standards – a dual 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual-band GPS.

Compared to other processors in this class, the Dimensity 920 is an absolute powerhouse. the Cortex-A78 cores handily outperform the competition. With the combination of 8GB + up to 5GB virtual ram and 256GB storage, it smoothly runs any apps you install on this phone.

On benchmark apps, the realme 9 Pro+ has competitive performance across the board.

Benchmark App Score

AnTuTu 9 – 508,671
3DMark Wild Life Vulkan 1.1 – 2,299
GFX Manhattan ES 3.1 – 44
GFX Car Chase ES 3.1 – 29
GeekBench 5 (single-core) – 834
GeekBench 5 (multi-core) – 2,435

When it comes to everyday activities such as using social media apps, watching Netflix and YouTube videos, playing games, and shooting photos, and 4K videos the realme 9 Pro+ did not disappoint and never slowed down.

Thermals are also effectively managed the heating, as the phone never got too hot specially when playing games, like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty Mobile, Asphalt 9, and other popular latest games.

In addition, there were no issues when playing Call of Duty: Mobile at the default ‘Medium’ graphics and “Very High” frame rate. There was also no noticeable difference in performance when the graphics settings maxed out. On Asphalt 9: Legends and it runs smoothly and playtime went without a hitch or any hiccups.

realme 9 Pro Plus 5G

The display supports 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates. When playing games, the refresh rate stays at 60Hz, even when the game is set to a higher refresh rate. However, when browsing via the phone’s UI, the frequency increases to 90 Hz. On YouTube, the screen refresh rate seems to be stuck at 60Hz even while the video was playing at 30 frames per second. So it looks like the highest possible refresh rate is only available when interacting with the realme Iu 3.0 software, not when playing games.

realme IU 3.0
Out of the box, this phone runs on the latest realme IU 3.0 which is based on the latest version of Android 12 OS. In comparison to earlier versions, realme UI 3.0 offers a wider range of customization options across the entire system and is enhanced by Android 12. Additionally, it features an improved privacy dashboard and privacy indicators, a better-floating window, and more.

realme 9 Pro Plus 5G

In terms of security, it supports the usual PIN, password, face recognition, and the in-display fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint unlocking on the in-display scanner performs admirably, it’s lightning-fast. Additionally, the face unlocks even faster in unlocking the phone. although this method is not really secure.

realme 9 Pro Plus 5G

It features a dynamic theme system, which applies the wallpaper’s colors to interface elements such as notification tray toggles and Settings menu icons. Additionally, the wallpaper can be used to complement the color scheme. A minor flaw is that the Google app widgets and Google keyboard do not appear to change color with the rest of the UI, but this may easily be fixed by software updates.

The realme 3.0 has a lot to offer in terms of customization and personalization allowing it to be tailored specifically to each individual user’s preferences.

realme Cameras
Its main highlight is a triple camera system at the back with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor with stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. Each image shot with the primary camera is processed using the integrated AI Noise Reduction Engine 3.0.
