Glamour and Glimmer Design
The nova Y70 is available in three classic shades in the Philippines: Crystal Blue, Pearl White, and Midnight Black. Our review unit has the Crystal Blue color which has a glossy finish and is easily stained by fingerprints, making it look unpleasant; thankfully, it comes with a protective cover to solve this minor issue.
It features 2.5D glassy exterior with a plastic body with a metal frame and does not slip off the palms easily which is a plus for us. Its 168.3 mm in height and 77.7 mm in width, making it a large smartphone. In terms of thickness, it measures 8.98 millimeters, thus it's still lightweight and easy to use.
The nova Y70 is equipped with a triple AI camera configuration at the back, in addition, it features an LED light that can also be used as a flashlight.
The SIM slot placed on the left side supports a hybrid SIM tray, meaning it can accommodate two nano-sized SIM cards plus a microSD card with a maximum capacity of 512GB.
While the volume rocker and power button, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner, are located on the right side of the device.
At the bottom is the usual connectivity such as the USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, there is also the microphone, and the loudspeaker.
The box includes the nova Y70 with a sim ejector, a transparent silicon case, a 22.5W HUAWEI charger, a USB Type-C cable, and some paper materials, however, there is is wired earbuds included.

It boasts a TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, 260 pixels per inch, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The viewing angle is good and it's usable outdoor just not under direct sunlight.
The display supports system-wide dark mode, Eye comfort, and eBook mode. It also has two color and temperature settings: Normal and Vivid; we chose Vivid since it enhances the vibrancy of the images.
It also supports MeeTime, which uses the selfie camera with a multi-call function for up to 12 parties of HD and high frame rate video.
The nova Y70 also supports an easy to use and handy knuckle gestures that allow users to take screenshots more easily, including the following:
• Take a full screenshot: Knock twice on the screen with a knuckle to take a full screenshot.
• Take a scrolling screenshot: Knock on the screen with a knuckle and draw an “S” to take a scrolling screenshot.
• Take a partial screenshot: Knock on the screen with a knuckle and hold to draw an outline around the part of the screen that you want to capture, then drag the frame to the desired position or resize it
AI Cameras
The nova Y70 triple AI camera features a 48-megapixel f/1.8 primary sensor, a 5-megapixel, f/2.2 ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera sensor. Additionally, it features an 8MP front camera with bokeh effect for blurring the background when taking selfies.
The primary camera captures more light and is combined with a Huawei algorithm optimization that minimizes image noise, enhances photodynamic range, and provides a clear backlight for Instagram-ready photos.
Whether you are shooting landscapes or groups, the 120° ultra-wide angle camera can effortlessly capture more in a single frame. The newly designed bokeh algorithm works in unison with the depth camera to blur the background. This helps the subject to shine out in the frame.
The camera app includes Aperture, Night, Portrait, Photo, Video, Pro, Slow-mo, Panorama, Light painting, Time-lapse, and Moving picture shooting modes.
The rear camera can record video in 720p and 1080p at up to 60 frames per second, while the front-facing camera can capture video in 1080p at up to 30 frames per second.
Sample Photos
Photos taken with the primary camera and under favorable lighting have a lot of detail and clarity, and you can further enhance the photos in post-processing. However, images captured in low-light situations are prone to noise.
