The Y02s are available in two colors, Flourite Black and Vibrant Blue, with the latter being the color of our review unit. It has a dual camera setup at the back with an LED flash, however, there is no fingerprint scanner, which is a bit drawback.
Up front is the nice large 6.51-inch Halo FullView display with slim bezels, with the selfie camera positioned in the display's notch.
The phone's power button and volume rocker are located on the right side of the device.
While the SIM card slot is located on the top, its position is not particularly unusual, but it is unusual from how most other smartphones are designed it.
The device's type-C port, earphone jack, microphone, and speaker are all located on its bottom for easy access.
First Impressions
The Vivo Y02s polished design cover with a glass-like texture makes it look really chic, and its vivid, vibrant Blue color gives the impression that it is a more expensive smartphone than it actually is.
At only 8.19mm in thickness, and with its 2.5D cure and a right-angled frame this device is surprisingly comfortable to use for extended periods of time.
It's powered by MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core processor, with 3GB of RAM and only 32GB of storage, which makes it an entry-level device. The storage is one of its weaknesses but it does support a microSD card, for additional storage space.
The MediaTek Helio P35 has eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked up to 2.3GHz paired with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU and LPDDR4x memory controller providing a powerful combination of high-performance hardware in a single chip.
In terms of battery, the Y02s packs a large 5000mAh, Vivo claimed that a single full charge can be used to watch 18 hours of online HD video streaming. We are excited to test its battery life on our full review soon.
Our initial impression of the Vivo Y02s is that it is a promising entry-level smartphone. It has a slim, stylish chic design with a huge display and battery capacity. It's equipped with a capable chipset that is expected to perform well even when multitasking; yet, its limited storage capacity may be regarded as one of its main flaws by some users.
Stay tuned for our full review soon.
