We had the chance to try out the new OPPO Reno 12 5G before its official release in the Philippines. Here are our unboxing and initial thoughts on this exciting new AI smartphone from OPPO.

Unboxing
The Reno 12 comes in standard OPPO packaging, which is pretty straightforward. The front of the box prominently displays the large OPPO Reno 12 label, while the back lists the usual technical specifications of the phone.

Inside the box, the sleek OPPO Reno 12 5G is securely nestled. The box also includes neatly arranged accessories: a clear protective case, a SIM ejector tool, a USB-C charging cable, and an 80W SUPERVOOC charger, along with quick guides and safety information.

First Impression
The OPPO Reno 12 5G looks premium with its Fluid Design and High-Strength Alloy Framework. Its available in three colors: Sunset Pink, Matte Brown, and Astro Silver, each offers a unique appeal.

The phone feels robust yet lightweight, weighing just 177 grams, and has a slim profile at 7.6mm thickness. The IP65 rating ensures it is resistant to dust and water, making it ideal to use for various environments.

Flipping the phone over, you'll notice a familiar arrangement on the side: the power button and volume rocker. These buttons are strategically placed for easy access, whether you're right-handed or left-handed, ensuring a comfortable user experience.

Moving to the bottom of the phone, you'll find the SIM card slot, which supports two nano-SIMs, perfect for those who need to manage multiple numbers. Adjacent to the SIM slot is the USB-C charging port, for its fast charging capabilities and reversible design. The bottom also houses a loudspeaker and microphone, contributing to clear audio output and input.

At the top of the phone, there's an additional microphone and speaker, enhancing audio quality during calls and media playback. Additionally, you'll find an IR blaster, a handy feature that allows the phone to function as a remote control for various electronic devices.

The 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display on this device truly stands out. With a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and support for HDR10+, it delivers vibrant visuals, capable of displaying up to 1.07 billion colors.
