The nubia NaviX Ultra is more than just another flagship smartphone. Jointly developed by ZTE and ByteDance, it is being introduced as the world's first mass-produced AI-agent smartphone, shifting the focus from traditional app-based interactions to a system-level AI capable of completing complex tasks on behalf of users.

Officially unveiled during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, the NaviX Ultra runs Nebula AIOS, an Android 16-based operating system deeply integrated with ByteDance's Doubao AI. Instead of relying on individual apps, the AI can execute multi-step actions such as booking rides, planning routes, organizing photos, and ordering food through a single natural language request.

A dedicated orange AI key on the side frame instantly activates the AI agent, making it easier to interact with the system. The platform is built around four core capabilities: deep contextual understanding, autonomous task execution, native information memory, and hardware-level data security, allowing the AI to better understand user intent while keeping personal data protected.
The nubia NaviX Ultra is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and is expected to be available with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It features a 6.78-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K (2688 × 1216) resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, ultra-slim symmetrical bezels, and a centered punch-hole selfie camera.

Keeping the device running is a large 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80W to 100W wired fast charging, while photography is handled by a triple 50MP rear camera system consisting of a main, ultra-wide, and periscope telephoto camera housed inside a distinctive horizontal visor-style camera bar. A 50MP front camera completes the imaging setup.
The phone also features a premium design with a matte glass back, flat aluminum alloy frame, and is available in Blue Horizon (Sapphire Blue), Shadow Black, Dreamscape (Pastel Pink), and Pure Silver (White).
Ahead of its commercial launch, the nubia NaviX Ultra received the 2026 SAIL (Super AI Leader) Award for its innovations in consumer AI terminals. It also serves as the commercial successor to nubia's earlier M153 technical preview device.
The smartphone is initially launching in China, where its AI capabilities are optimized for the local Doubao AI ecosystem. Pricing is expected to start at around CNY 3,499 (approximately US$495–US$515), while higher-end configurations could reach US$799–US$999 depending on the market.

Our Take

The nubia NaviX Ultra stands out by making AI the core of the smartphone experience rather than just an added feature. Its system-level AI agent, combined with flagship hardware, a large battery, and a versatile triple-camera setup, offers an early glimpse into how smartphones could evolve beyond the traditional app-centric interface. While its full AI capabilities are currently focused on the Chinese market, the NaviX Ultra could influence the next generation of AI-powered smartphones worldwide.
