Design
The realme 6i is a well-designed device, in fact, the classic vertically-lined pattern was designed by Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa with a concept of nature, and the built quality has a premium feel too.

realme 6i

At the front, there is a 16.5cm (6.5") mini-drop full-screen display with a 20:9 screen ratio that makes the device look slimmer, and it has an 89.8% screen-to-body ratio, so more screen means more view, for that immersive viewing when watching videos or playing games.

The display has a 1600 x 720 resolution, not really Full HD+, with good colors, and the viewing angle is nice. The brightness control is good, but not enough when it's used in direct sunlight.

Continuing at the back, the quad cameras are vertically aligned beside the LED light, and at the center is the fingerprint reader that works really quickly in unlocking the phone. There is also the company branding below.

The power button on the right side and the volume rocker on the left side have a solid click and a satisfactory feel when used. One of the major improvements to this mid-entry level device is the use of the Type-C port, which supports fast charging on its 5,000mAh battery and reverse charging capability.

It also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, which is another legacy feature. Since not everyone is keen on using wireless earphones, there are still those who prefer to use wired earphones since it's still the best way to listen to your favorite tracks.

Still, on audio, the realme 6i has a single speaker at the bottom do not expect too much of its quality since it's a mono speaker. The volume is good but not of the best quality. So you are better off using your headphones when you want to enjoy your music.

Performance
Under the hood, this device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core chipset paired with Mali-G52 for graphics, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage (108GB available).

The gaming experience with realme 6i is never-ending gameplay. Installed games like Into the Dead 2, Call of Duty Mobile, Asphalt 9, Real Boxing 2, and Dead Trigger 2 run smoothly without experiencing lag or latency.

Just like OPPO, the realme 6i is also equipped with Game Space, its function is to optimize performance during gameplay. It also has the Game Assistant, which handles notification management, screen recording, and more option shortcuts. With this, it's easy to check and reply to your messages while playing games.

realme UI
Out of the box, it runs on Android 10, and on top of it is the latest Realme IU. It's a refreshed version of OPPO's Color OS, the icon looks simple and elegant and is responsive to touch. One of the cool features of the icon is that it can be customized based on your taste.

Some notable features of the Realme UI are Dark Mode system-wide and Dual Mode With Music Share, you can now use Bluetooth and wired earphones simultaneously to listen to your playlist. There's also Focus Mode, which allows you to temporarily pause selected apps, mutes notifications, and lets you relax by listening to the soothing sound. There are more features that Realme UI has to offer, all you need to do is explore and try them.

Overall, the new look of the Realme UI is appealing, the gesture features are smooth, navigating around is easy, and it offers more features and customization compared to stock Android.

Cameras
The realme 6i sports a quad-camera system with an 8-megapixel 119° ultra-wide angle lens, a 48-megapixel main camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP portrait lens. On the front, it packs a 16-megapixel AI selfie camera.

Shooting in daylight is fun, images look sharp with a lot of details, but when used in dimly lit areas, pixelation is noticeable. The images lose their details and sharpness, but this can be resolved by using the built-in flash to get more light before taking pictures.

There is a 48M button on the camera app, this could mean that you need this button in order to take 48-megapixel pictures, so it's safe to assume that photos are taken at 12-megapixel by default.

The camera supports Night, Video, Photo, Portrait, 48M, Slow-mo, Time-lapse, Expert, and Ultra-macro modes.

The Ultra-macro mode is fun to use, you can capture macro shots with a 4cm distance to get the best quality of your subject.

Battery
Powering the realme 6i is a massive 5000mah battery, with 18W fast charging capability. This device has proven its impressive battery life, it lasted 16 hours and 13 minutes before it needed to be charged again. The usage includes multiple hours of game time, Netlfix, browsing social media accounts, and some idle time using the default settings, dark mode, and Smart Performance mode.

Charging the battery using the supplied USB cable and charger is a bit disappointing. With a 12% battery capacity, it took more than 2-hours to fully charge the 5,000mAh battery, not really fast as expected, but given its massive battery, it will really take time to juice it up. Compared to other brands with much lower battery capacity and slower charging times, I can't complain since you charge the realme 6i in the evening so that you are sure it's ready for the next day.

Pros
Affordable pricing
Display with great color accuracy
Nice design
Realme UI offers a lot of features
Great CPU performance
Type-C port
Impressive battery life

Cons
No NFC
Mono Speaker
Battery charging is not really quick.

Verdict
When considering smartphones in their price range, the Realme 6i stands out as a clear frontrunner thanks to its impressive design, powerful performance, and high-quality camera. It's a formidable competitor in the affordable smartphone market thanks to its sleek build, bright screen, smooth performance, and long battery life.
