Synology RT6600ax Wi-Fi 6 Router Launched

The new Synology RT6600ax is a high-speed, security-focused router designed to give households and businesses with safe connectivity. Its equipped to handle the challenges of modern network environments.

Supported by the new Synology Router Manager (SRM) 1.3,1 RT6600ax is well equipped to address the challenges of modern network environments, such as the massive increase in connected devices and the consequent need to safeguard users from ever-evolving security threats.

The RT6600ax, the first Wi-Fi 6-certified router from Synology, offers more reliable Wi-Fi through improved data encoding, beamforming, scheduling, and signal isolation. A 2.5GbE port customizable for WAN or LAN deployment enables users to utilize Multi-Gig internet connections, high-performance devices such as a NAS, and high-speed wireless backhaul. A quad-core 1,8 GHz processor ensures quick connection rates and responsive operation, even with many devices connected and all features enabled.

Smart Connect and Tri-band technology combine to optimize device distribution and eliminate data transmission bottlenecks. Compatibility with the newly licensed 5.9 GHz spectrum enables non-DFS channels at 80 and 160 MHz for a total of 6.6 Gbps of wireless throughput, a more significant number of concurrent connections, and quicker VPN server performance.

SRM 1.3, Synology's router OS, powers RT6600ax. SRM 1.3 addresses today's network security and flexibility needs with upgrades and expanded functionality that considerably expands network management capabilities.

When managing multi-purpose networks, the ability to build up to five networks, each with three Wi-Fi SSIDs, makes security simple. One-way firewall rules can be defined independently for each network to prohibit connectivity to and from less secure devices like IoT equipment. At the same time, 802.1q simplifies router, AP, and mesh network integration.

Per-user profiles can limit internet time or block surfing under certain conditions. Profile-assigned devices share internet access rules without explicit configuration. Network-specific profiles can regulate and audit internet access on guests or new devices.

Parental control capabilities include limiting internet usage time (scheduled or quota-based), filtering out entire categories of websites or specific domains through allow/block lists, and restricting improper search results using safe search options for YouTube, Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. DNS & IP Threat Intelligence Database with Google Safe Browsing assists improve network security.

Remote workers and hybrid teams can use SRM's remote connectivity tools to access intranet-only websites directly from their browser (WebVPN), establish high-performance connections with a dedicated client over various protocols (SSL VPN), bridge multiple locations for simple resource sharing across different networks (Site-to-Site VPN), and remotely operate RDP/VNC-compatible devices (Remote Desktop).

SRM's mobile app, DS router, has been updated to improve network administration on the move. The 2.0 version adds SRM-exclusive features to the smartphone, including building new wireless networks, configuring online filtering and parental control, implementing traffic management schemes, and more.

The Synology RT6600ax Wi-Fi 6 router is now available starting through Synology partners and resellers.
