TECNO has officially unveiled the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G, the latest addition to its gaming-focused smartphone lineup. The new device brings several upgrades over its predecessor, including a faster 144Hz AMOLED display, the new MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor, a large 6,500mAh battery, and an improved camera system with optical image stabilization.
It also introduces TECNO's customizable Alive Matrix Display on the rear, giving users a unique way to display notifications, charging animations, and personalized lighting effects.
The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G features a 6.78-inch 1.5K HyperLux AMOLED display and an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate. The display supports up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness, making it easier to use under direct sunlight while also delivering smoother scrolling and gameplay. Protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, helping improve durability against everyday scratches and accidental drops.
Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G chipset, built on a 4nm process and paired with the Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and TECNO's dedicated P1 Graphics Chip. According to TECNO, the phone is capable of delivering up to 144FPS gaming in supported titles using its frame generation technology. It is available with up to 12GB of RAM, expandable to 24GB via Memory Fusion, and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.
For photography, the POVA 8 Pro 5G is equipped with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. On the front is a 13MP selfie camera for photos and video calls. The rear camera island also integrates the Alive Matrix Display, allowing users to customize light animations for calls, notifications, charging status, and other system events.
Keeping the device running is a 6,500mAh battery that supports 45W Super Charge via USB Type-C. TECNO says the battery is designed for long-term durability and can retain at least 80% of its original capacity after around 2,000 charging cycles under laboratory testing.
The smartphone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16, bringing several AI-powered features including Ask Ella, AI Writing, AI photo editing tools, and productivity enhancements. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an under-display fingerprint scanner, an infrared remote, stereo speakers, and support for multiple satellite positioning systems.
TECNO has also focused on durability. The POVA 8 Pro 5G carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, providing protection against dust ingress, water immersion, and even high-pressure water jets—features that are still uncommon in this price segment.
The device comes in Arc White, Graphite Black, and Tundra Green color options. While TECNO has confirmed the smartphone's global launch, availability in the Philippines has yet to be announced.

TECNO has yet to announce the official global pricing for the POVA 8 Pro 5G. However, the standard TECNO POVA 8 5G is already available in India, priced at ₹29,999 (around ₱19,200) for the 6GB + 128GB variant and ₹31,999 (around ₱20,500) for the 8GB + 128GB variant.Based on TECNO's current pricing strategy and the specifications of the Pro model, the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G is expected to retail in the Philippines for around ₱17,000 to ₱20,000. This is only an estimate, and official local pricing and availability will likely be announced in the coming months.
