Acer has announced the Acer Vero 16 (V16-I71 / V16-I71T), a premium 16-inch laptop designed to make repairs and upgrades easier. While it comes with modern hardware such as Intel Core Ultra processors, OLED display options and Wi-Fi 7, the standout feature is Acer’s stronger focus on extending the laptop’s usable life.
The Vero 16 is the fourth-generation Vero consumer laptop and expands Acer’s sustainability approach from reduce, reuse, and recycle to 4R, adding repairability.
Repairability Is the Main Focus
The Acer Vero 16 is designed to give users and repair technicians easier access to key internal components. A tool-free access latch on the bottom cover makes the internal components easier to access. The battery and SSD are user-replaceable, which can be particularly useful when these components eventually wear out or when additional storage is needed.
Acer also places a visual repair guide directly on the laptop, providing instructions for servicing and upgrades. The design goes beyond the bottom cover. The external hinge can be detached from the chassis, making hinge-related repairs easier. Both sides of the laptop also have removable I/O port covers, simplifying access when repairing or replacing ports.
Acer has also designed the Vero 16 to support processor upgrades for at least two generations. This could give the laptop a longer useful lifespan than machines where the processor cannot be upgraded.
Recycled Materials and Durable Finish
Repairability is paired with recycled materials throughout the chassis. The top cover and palm rest use 50% post-industrial recycled aluminum and 50% low-carbon aluminum. The bottom cover contains 60% post-consumer recycled plastic, while the display bezel uses 30% PCR plastic. The side I/O covers use 75% PIR aluminum.
The chassis is MIL-STD-810H certified and uses a solvent-free powder-coated finish designed to reduce VOC emissions while improving wear resistance. Acer also ships the Vero 16 in 100% recyclable packaging made from recycled materials.
Intel Core Ultra and OLED Display Options
The Vero 16 is a Windows 11 Copilot+ PC powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, with configurations ranging from the Core Ultra 5 322 and 325 to the Core Ultra X9 388H. The top configuration supports up to 180 platform TOPS and Intel Arc B390 graphics.
Display options include a 16-inch 2880 x 1800 OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. There are also 1920 x 1200 OLED options, including a touchscreen model. Other configurations can include up to 32GB LPDDR5x RAM and a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD.
Practical Connectivity
The Vero 16 includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 Type-A ports, an SD card reader, HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also supports Intel Wi-Fi 7 R2 and Bluetooth 5.6. For video calls, there's a 5MP IR camera with a privacy shutter. Acer PurifiedView and PurifiedVoice provide AI-based camera and noise-reduction features. The laptop also includes AcerSense, Acer MyKey, a backlit keyboard and dual anti-vibration speakers with DTS Virtual:X.
