Design and Display
We have the Midnight Black variant, which looks sleek and subtle. The HONOR 400 5G is also available in Desert Gold, Meteor Silver, and Tidal Blue, giving users a variety of stylish choices. The phone is slim at 7.3mm thick and weighs around 184 grams, making it comfortable to hold and easy to carry all day.Its 6.55-inch AMOLED display delivers vibrant colors and sharp details with a resolution of 2736 × 1264 pixels. The screen features curved corners, adding a premium touch without being too flashy. The size strikes a good balance between enjoying videos and using the phone comfortably with one hand.
Performance and Software
The HONOR 400 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 octa-core processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 512GB, offering smooth and reliable performance for everyday tasks like browsing, streaming, and multitasking. It runs on MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15, providing a clean and user-friendly interface that’s easy to navigate without unnecessary extras. Plus, HONOR promises up to 6 years of Android upgrades, giving users peace of mind with long-term software support and security updates.
Compared to the HONOR 200 5G, which shares the same processor and memory options, the HONOR 400 5G focuses more on refining the software experience and design. This makes the HONOR 400 5G feel a bit more polished and responsive in daily use, even if the core specs remain similar.
Camera & AI Features
The HONOR 400 5G features a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization, paired with a 12MP ultra-wide lens. It’s a capable setup for everyday photography, whether you’re capturing detailed close-ups or wide scenes. Up front, the 50MP selfie camera produces sharp and clear images and handles various lighting conditions well. From portraits to quick snapshots, it delivers reliable results out of the box. What sets the camera experience apart is HONOR’s push into AI-powered tools. One highlight is the new AI Image-to-Video feature, developed in partnership with Google. Found within the Gallery app, this tool allows you to turn still photos into short 5-second video clips.
This feature is part of HONOR’s broader AI push, powered by MagicOS 9.0, which also includes tools like AI Eraser, Super Zoom, and enhanced motion capture. Compared to the HONOR 200 5G, which shares a similar processor and memory setup, the 400 5G leans more into creative features, particularly with its AI-assisted media editing.
Battery & Charging
The HONOR 400 5G packs a 6000mAh battery, which is quite large for a phone this slim and lightweight. On paper, it suggests a device built for long-lasting use, whether for casual browsing, media consumption, or work-related tasks. While we haven’t had the chance to do a full battery test just yet, it’s fair to expect that it should get through a day of regular use without much worry. It also supports up to 100W fast charging via the included HONOR SuperCharge adapter. Based on HONOR’s claims, this should allow for a quick charge, especially helpful for users who need to charge during a busy day. Of course, actual charging speed and battery endurance will depend on real-world use, but it’s a promising setup on paper.
Compared to the HONOR 200 5G, which comes with a slightly smaller 5200mAh battery, the HONOR 400 5G does have an advantage in capacity. It will be interesting to see how that plays out over time once we get to spend more time with the device.

First Impressions
After spending a bit of hands-on time with the HONOR 400 5G, it feels like a device designed with everyday practicality in mind. The sleek design, especially in the Midnight Black variant, gives it a polished look, while the curved AMOLED display makes for a smooth viewing experience. Performance seems promising thanks to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, with MagicOS 9.0 that keeps the software experience smooth and fluid. The camera system, especially with the AI-powered features like Image-to-Video, adds a creative edge that could appeal to users who enjoy experimenting with photos. And while we haven’t fully tested the battery yet, the 6000mAh capacity paired with 100W fast charging is one of its more practical features.
Compared to the HONOR 200 5G, the HONOR 400 5G doesn’t reinvent the wheel but refines the experience with thoughtful touches, both in hardware and software. It’s still early, but so far, it feels like a well-rounded smartphone made for those who want reliable performance on their smartphone.
