Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, marking the company's first entry into the foldable smartphone market. It uses a book-style folding design with a large inner display and a smaller outer screen.
7.6-Inch Inner Display
When unfolded, the iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz. It also supports Always-On display, HDR, True Tone, and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.
The inner display uses a nano-texture finish to help reduce glare and reflections. Apple has also placed the FaceTime camera underneath the display.
When folded, the phone uses a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display. Apple designed the two displays with the same aspect ratio so content can move between them with minimal changes.
Titanium Design
The iPhone Duo features a grade 5 titanium frame and is available in Star White and Night Sky. The folding mechanism uses a hinge made up of more than 100 components. The device also uses Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back.
Apple gives the iPhone Duo an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone measures 5.2mm thick when unfolded and 11.3mm when folded. It weighs 254 grams.
A20 Pro Chip
The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple's A20 Pro chip. It features a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the CPU is up to 20 percent faster than the A19 Pro, while the GPU offers up to 40 percent higher performance with improved power efficiency.
The phone also uses a custom vapor chamber to manage heat during demanding workloads. Apple says this allows the Duo to maintain up to 35 percent better sustained performance compared with the iPhone 17 Pro.
Dual-Battery Setup
Apple uses a battery on each side of the foldable to make better use of the available internal space. The company rates the iPhone Duo for up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and up to 44 hours using the outer display.
The phone can reach 50 percent charge in around 20 minutes with a compatible wired charger. MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging can reach 50 percent in around 30 minutes.
Two 48MP Rear Cameras
The iPhone Duo has a 48MP Fusion Main camera paired with a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. The main camera supports optical-quality 2x zoom and sensor-shift optical image stabilization. The Ultra Wide camera also supports macro photography. Video recording goes up to 4K Dolby Vision at 120fps.
For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 12MP Center Stage front camera, along with the under-display FaceTime camera on the inner screen.
Apple has added several camera features that take advantage of the foldable design. Duo Preview allows people in front of the phone to see the camera preview on the outer display before a photo is taken.
The phone also includes Smart Take, which can automatically capture a photo when subjects are ready, and Kid Cue, which uses animations on the outer screen to get a child's attention.
iOS 27 Gets Foldable Features
The iPhone Duo runs iOS 27 with several features designed specifically for its larger inner display. Split View allows two apps to appear side by side, while users can also open two windows of the same app. This gives the larger screen a more practical role for multitasking.
StandBy has also been adapted for the Duo. Depending on how the phone is positioned, it can display the time, photos, weather, calendar information and widgets. Apple says apps including Netflix, Zoom and Slack are being updated to support the larger display.
Apple Intelligence and Siri
The iPhone Duo also supports Apple's latest Apple Intelligence features and updated Siri capabilities. Siri can understand information displayed on the screen and use it when carrying out certain requests. Apple Intelligence can also work with personal context across supported apps.
As with Apple's other recent devices, supported AI processing can take place on-device, while more demanding tasks can use Apple's Private Cloud Compute system.

The iPhone Duo will be available in the Philippines with official pricing starting at ₱159,990.

Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for the iPhone Duo on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 5:00 AM PT. The device will officially go on sale on Friday, October 23, 2026, across more than 70 countries.
For the Philippines, the official Apple Philippines website currently lists the iPhone Duo as “Check back later for availability,” with local availability details yet to be announced.
The iPhone Duo is a significant change to Apple's smartphone lineup, bringing a foldable design to the iPhone for the first time. Rather than simply adding a folding display, Apple has also adjusted iOS, multitasking, StandBy, and the camera system around the new form factor.
