Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, bringing a new variable-aperture camera system, the A20 Pro chip, improved thermal management, longer battery life, and changes to the Dynamic Island.
The iPhone 18 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display. Both models are available in Black, Silver, Glacier, and the new Burgundy finish.
48MP Main Camera With Variable Aperture
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max feature a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. This lets you adjust the aperture based on lighting conditions and the type of photo you're taking. You can set the aperture to ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8, or ƒ/4.0. Users can let the camera adjust it automatically or control it manually through the Camera app.
A wider aperture lets more light reach the sensor, while narrower settings can provide greater depth of field. Apple says the system can also help keep more subjects in focus when taking group photos.
The main camera is joined by a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto camera. The Telephoto camera provides 4x optical zoom and up to 8x optical-quality zoom. Apple has also added new Pro controls that allow users to adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and white balance. A histogram is available for checking exposure.
New Photo Authenticity Feature
Apple is introducing Reference Image, a feature designed to help users identify changes made to a photograph. When Reference mode is used, the iPhone captures signed sensor data and creates an unalterable reference image. Users can then compare it with the edited version in the Photos app. The feature is designed for situations where establishing the original state of an image is important, including photography and journalism.
A20 Pro Chip
The new Pro models are powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which is built using a 2-nanometer process. The chip has a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the A20 Pro provides 50 percent more memory bandwidth than the previous-generation A19 Pro and up to 40 percent faster graphics performance.
The Neural Engine has also been upgraded, with Apple claiming twice the AI processing power of the A19 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro models also use Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. A new C2 cellular modem system is also included.
Larger Vapor Chamber
Apple has redesigned the thermal system in the iPhone 18 Pro models with a larger vapor chamber. The new vapor chamber has three times the surface area of the previous generation. Apple says the design allows the phones to deliver up to 40 percent better sustained performance compared with the iPhone 17 Pro. The improvement is aimed at demanding workloads such as gaming, video processing, and AI tasks that can place the processor under sustained load.
Longer Battery Life
Battery life has also been increased on both models. Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro for up to 34 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach up to 43 hours.
The iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50 percent charge in around 15 minutes using compatible wired charging equipment. Wireless charging can reach 50 percent in around 30 minutes with compatible hardware.
Smaller Dynamic Island
The Dynamic Island has been redesigned to take up less space while displaying more information. Apple says it can display up to three Live Activities at the same time, allowing users to see information such as navigation and sports scores without opening the corresponding app. Face ID remains the biometric authentication system on both models.
6.3-Inch and 6.9-Inch Displays
The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display. Both displays support ProMotion with refresh rates up to 120Hz, Always-On display, and a peak outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits.
Apple has moved to an aluminum unibody design for the new Pro models. The phones use Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back, along with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The available finishes are Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy.
iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max run iOS 27, which includes changes to the Liquid Glass interface and new personalization features.
The phones also support Apple’s updated Siri AI, which is rolling out as a beta feature. Apple says the new Siri can use personal context, understand information on the screen, and perform actions based on what users are viewing. Apple Intelligence features are also available across supported apps and services.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Pricing and Availability
For the Philippines, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₱94,990 for the 256GB model, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₱99,990 for 256GB. Both models are also available with 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage.
The 512GB iPhone 18 Pro costs ₱110,990, while the 512GB iPhone 18 Pro Max costs ₱115,990. The 1TB versions are priced at ₱142,990 and ₱147,990, respectively. The 2TB models cost ₱189,990 for the iPhone 18 Pro and ₱194,990 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Both models now start at 256GB of storage.
Apple says pre-orders begin September 12, with availability starting September 18 in initial markets. Philippine availability will be announced through the Apple Philippines Online Store.
