Apple has unveiled its redesigned iPad mini, featuring an 8.5-inch OLED display, the new A20 Pro chip, and IP67 water and dust resistance. The updated tablet also brings improved cameras, faster connectivity, and better support for AI-powered tasks.
The new iPad mini measures just 5.4mm thick and comes in midnight and starlight finishes. Despite its larger display, Apple has kept the tablet’s footprint compact by reducing the bezels by 24%.
The Super Retina XDR OLED display supports a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Apple also offers an optional nano-texture display designed to reduce glare in bright environments.
A20 Pro Chip Brings Faster Performance
The A20 Pro chip powers the new iPad mini, delivering up to 60% faster multithreaded CPU performance and up to 2.7 times better graphics performance than the previous generation.

Apple also claims up to 4.5 times faster AI performance, thanks to Neural Accelerators integrated into the GPU. These improvements target demanding creative applications, local AI models, gaming, and multitasking. The tablet also adds an upgraded audio system, a 12MP Center Stage front camera on the landscape edge, and a 12MP rear camera that supports 4K video recording at up to 60fps.
Faster Connectivity and iPadOS 27
The new iPad mini supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread through Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip. Cellular models use the C2 modem, which Apple says enables up to 50% faster cellular data speeds than the previous generation.
